The first thing about the Sony D-EJ815 that caught my eye, was the extra long battery life. Sony claims that it has the longest lasting battery life in the world. I liked the slim design that they advertised, and especially the idea, that it is ''virtually skip-free'' according to Sony. I managed to find it online for a lot cheaper than Sony recommended, so I decided to buy it.

I have had it for a few months now and have really liked it. All the features that I was looking for in a walkman, were there. The first problem I had, was with the lid. I carry my discman around in my backpack a lot, and one day the extra-slim design, turned out to be an extra-flimsy design. The extremely thin lid got a dent in it, that was big enough to hit the CD inside. It didn't scratch the surface of the CD, but it scraped off a circle on the cover. I was able to bend the lid back into shape, but it doesn't look that great. As long as you don't mind bending the lid, this shouldn't be a problem. The only real problem with the device, is the sound. Anybody who is looking for great sound in portable audio, will have to look elsewhere.

For most of my purposes, the sound was fine. The only time I had any problems, was when I was listening to classical music with good headphones. I found that the bass was lacking, and the overall sound quality could have been better. When I was listening to any other kind of music with average headphones, it had all the sound I could ask for.

Besides these two slight details, it has been an excellent discman. The battery life is great, although not quite what Sony advertised, and the device that allows you to plug in two extra batteries is nice for long trips. The Slim design has been convenient. The volume output is great especially when listening to classical music, which can be hard to hear in noisy atmospheres. The remote is a nice feature, and very handy for anybody likes to keep their audio devices in pockets or bags while listening to them. The skip protection is fabulous. I have never experienced any other discman like it. I take it jogging all the time, and it never skips if you hold it in your hand. I first tried to attach it to my hip, but the bouncing there was way too much. The handy carrying case makes it easy to hold in your hand while jogging.

Overall, it has been a great discman, I would definitely recommend it to any body who is an active person, and who is on the road a lot. I don't think it is quite worth it for the $190 retail value Sony advertises, but if you can find it for cheaper, it is a great deal. I purchased it online at https://abtelectronics.com for $131, and got it about two weeks later.
