It was a gift I received back in 2006-2007; even at the time, it was not the best of cameras. The photo quality is average at best, showing Sony's clear lack of proper technology use.
It appears as if Sony WANTED to build a bad quality product. But the quality flaws come to the fore only a year after I started using it. I am not a heavy user, but I initially used to keep the battery inside the camera--a year later the battery flap developed cracks and finally broken open. I figured that was a one-off case and paid around Rs. 600 to replace the flap and never put the batteries in the camera just to be safe.
Now I would only insert the batteries when I used the camera. Surprisingly after another 4-6 months, this flap also developed cracks and similarly broke open. I wrote to the customer care number explaining this and they wrote back saying they will decide whether this is manhandling or really a problem. I am going to the service center again tomorrow, but given my past experience with them, I feel I am going to be robbed of another 600/- rupees. I have decided never to buy anything Sony again!
