For me the Sony Cybershot DSC S-750, is to digital cameras, what the Maruti 800 is to cars. Not too expensive, and relatively easy to operate, it could be a good start for those who like photography but don't know where exactly to start. And with many online shopping sites, offering the product at lower prices, it is not too heavy on your wallet either. The camera is basically aimed at the average user, who just would like to click the photos, while going on a trip. It is certainly not for professional photographers, nor for those who are serious about photography as a hobby.
Portable, Easy to Operate
It's small compact size makes it easy to carry around, and not attract too much attention while travelling. And for all it's small size, the camera is quite sturdy, and so you could also carry it around in your bag while going for the trek or maybe a long journey. One more advantage is that it's much easier to set up, and you don't have to be a really qualified photographer to understand some of it's features.
Picture Quality
I found the picture quality quite decent, dont expect very high quality ones though. It depends on the settings you make. With a resolution of 7.2 mega pixels, you can have a fairly good quality picture. Good enough to upload and share with your friends. Though the light sensitivity goes to a maximum of ISO 1250, I would just recommend to be set to ISO 200. If u do try to go for more light sensitivity, there are chances of getting a not too good picture quality. The zoom is up to 2x, so that means you could shoot objects in a close range. However again this would not work for distant landscapes kind. So say if you are on a trip to a hill station, this would be useful for close shots, or more group shots kind, however if you are seeking a panoramic vista kind, this camera would not serve the purpose. The image format you get is generally in JPEG, and while you do have a whole range of settings like Snow, Beach, Landscape etc, if you are a beginner, I would suggest going for an Auto Mode, and for indoor photographs, set it in Twilight mode. You could also take your own home videos, by setting in the video mode.
Shutter/Memory
Generally takes around 2.2 seconds for a shot, and if you are using flash, the average wait time would be around 2.6 seconds between a shot. Again this is something more of interest to photography buffs, if you are just a normal user, should not be much of an issue. The cameras generally come with a Memory Stick PRO Duo, which can be placed for taking more number of pictures, and uploading in your laptop.
Lens/Battery
The lens used is the Sony 3x Optical lens, instead of the standard Carl Zeiss lenses, found in the Sony point to shoot cameras. The focus can be adjusted both manually as well as automatically, again if you are a beginner, go for auto focus mode, that would be easier. The battery used is Sony NP-BK1 Li ion, rechargable battery, and is included along with camera. However if you are planning to take pictures of a long trip, or a function, say a wedding or birthday, keep the battery recharged all night, as it does get discharged quickly.
End of day, I would recommend this for users, who just want to click some photographs once in a while. It is easy, user friendly, and the pictures are good enough to be shared and uploaded.
