SAMSUNG vs SONY service.

There is hell of difference between SONY & SAMSUNG.  First of all the support service provided by Sony seems to be cutting edge.  One really hesitates since sony has standard accessories which cannot be duplicated or duplicates are not available in the market place.  It obviously means higher cost to the consumer.


I had bought Samsung DV camcorder with great expectation, since the dealer promised that he is there to back up.  I mean WHIZZ, first of all they cheated me by over charging above the MRP by Rs 1500/-  well they are supplied fake labels by the company personnel itself.  The actual MRP listed in the Samsung website is Rs 18500/- and the label on the box is Rs 24500.  I was given the same at Rs 19990/-  Customers should be aware of buying SAMSUNG products and that too from WHIZZ.


The performance of the product is pathetic to the core, the video quality on the memory stick is extremely bad.  Next the DVD software Media pro, is a trial version, which can corrupt your computer, My DVD drive is affected, ( best part is DVD drive is Samsung too)  because once if you install a corrupt or trial version software then it affects your hardware. Luckily my PC which too is Samsung is not affected. The virus will make your system unstable.  Samsung has only one service centre.  They are yet to sort out my problem despite approaching them twice.   The DVD is not working, I am unable to view it on the PC or TV.  I am sure the trial software has affected my camcorder.


Then I decided to go for the known devil, SONY H3 digital cam and paid Rs 15800/ for the set, which I bought at Reliance digital.  They offered me the scheme of brother printer.   I have already mentioned regarding the unprofessional attitude of Reliance, they charged me Rs 150/- for installation and the printer was not working.  An untrained person, who is on temporary rolls is employed by them.  Again I had to request for company man to visit.  He too is not well trained but managed to install the printer.


The cutting edge software provided by SONY makes all the difference.  I was stuck once with flash not working.  I went to Reliance showroom, who promised back up service, but don t go by their words you will be let down.


I was directed to SONY service centre, it took them just 3 minutes to clarify and set right the flash settings, whereas Reliance executive just literally pulled the flash with his finger nails.  He gave the impression that he knew how to correct it.  It is simple to go through the serial setting for flash and correct it.  This is what professionalism is all about.  Next the CD copying was becoming a problem.  He asked me to delete the Nero and reload, which worked and I was able to burn CD.


The Samsung service centre at BTM layout is so huge and there are any number of technical people working.  But all fall into the category of amatuers.  They debate why should company give trial version.  They dont have a copy of the software in their service centre.  There are numberable PC's available.  The technical persons are not updated at all.   They dont even know whether CD has to be finalised or not.  Passing the buck has been their forte.


Meanwhile coming back to Sony I found out the soft ware support for editing photos from their website, which is so beautifully demonstrated.  I had a problem with downloading photos, I literally went through the entire process time and again.  I used to get I/o error.  Then I started scanning their guide.  I found out the troubleshooting helped me to correct the downloading problems I had.  It is so simple that one can really follow the instruction.  Step by step approach is really user friendly.  They anticipate customer problem better.  I was really thankful that SONY really cares for the customer, and not dealers who are there to make fast buck.


Samsung cares for the dealer, because they bullshit and lure the customers into a trap and make them suffer.  Please now you all decide whether you want to be with a professionally run organisation or with unprofession company.


The ultimate joke regarding the Samsung was that one customer ahead of me visited their showroom to get his cellphone repaired.  He was given an estimate  of Rs 10850, whereas the same new set is available for Rs 9000/-  He just laughed and sarcastically told the service engineer do you think I am mad to get my old set repaired by paying Rs 1850 more than new unit.
