I bought a SONY Component Audio system Model CMT-NEZ33 from authorized SONY dealer in Thrissur, Kerala, on 06/11/2006 at a cost of Rs 6990/-. I requested the dealer for reductions and his reply was it is SONY, and they do not give that much margin to give customer a reduction. Later on a visit to Dubai, the same model was displayed in Pluggins Electronics for AED 325.(Equivalent to Rs 4000/- @ the exchange rates almost one year back).

I bought this system for my mother for her to listen to a few hours of devotional songs daily. Earlier she was using a PHILIPS Sound machine which I bought in 1993, which gave a very good value for money and lasted for almost 13 years.

I had to make a few errants in different shops to surveys before I bought this SONY component system. Because, I wanted a system not very expensive, which can play CDs and MP3s and which also has a cassette player. My mother has a few old cassettes which she listens to even now. And of-course, I was very particular about sound quality. I found this SONY component audio system which had every thing but cheap. Any way I went for it, thinking it is SONY and it is worth investing money in it. Today after 1 year, and 10 days, I had to spent Rs 2000 on this system to replace the faulty optical pick up. The system stopped playing CDs. The authorised service centre at Thrissur quoted Rs 2000, which includes Rs 250 as repair charges and remaining towards spares costs. To rub salt to the wound, I had also another SONY cousin with me DCR-DVD803E, which I bought two years back.

I had to spend Rs2000/- to get its LCD working. I shall be writing another review on that. And a couple of my colleagues, getting attracted by the looks of SONY LCD Monitor, which I have(HS17) bought a higher end model HS17P from Dubai. Both of them had to return their monitors to Dubai to carry out warranty repairs. Readers in this forum might have read in newspapers regarding complaints of Lithium Ion batteries, SONY supplied to DELL and some other leading brand laptops. In view of these incidents, it seems it is time for users to review their SONY products, than blindly go for SONY products. I swear I would never again buy a SONY product.
