I had received a Sony Bravia 26" from Club Mahindra, as an offer for joining their membership. Exactly 16 month of using it, its Panel has gone bust, which the service center initially told would cost Rs 20, 000. Now after talking to the Sony services deptt, since the TV is relatively new, they have given me an offer of Rs 10, 000.
I am little perplexed, a product like Sony bravia might need 30% of its original cost for repair immediately after the warranty period of 1 year. This seriously raises questions on the viability and reliability of Sony Bravia product and also on the dubious nature of their services. For big-bang faults, even after warranty period the company should take the onus of repairing it. Else, immediately after 12 months, entire TV set can explode and they would make you buy a new one.
This is utterly ridiculous.
