I purchased Sony LED TV(KDL-40EX520) on 04th Sep 2011 with an expectation that I'm buying the best of the product as I've always been a Sony Fan. But it is amazing how my trust has been tarnished with the kind of product that I've bought leaving no doubt that I should never ever look at Sony Product.
With the kind of price Sony charges for its LED TV the quality should also be guaranteed to the satisfaction of the customers. The two most pricey parts in any LED TV is the Panel and the board.
On 24th Aug 2013, there was a problem in the picture and the engineer told that the Panel need to be replaced. Just in a span of less than 24 months one of the pricey parts got replaced. Now again on 19th June 2014, there was again problems with the picture and the engineer said that the board need to be replaced. I'm still awaiting a response in respect to the replacement of part which they never bothered to reach out to me. In a span of 3 years, I had to spend a considerable amount of money and that is not worth at all.
I'm completely amazed that with the kind of viewing pattern I have - which is around 2-4 hrs daily, if both the critical parts of a TV need to be replaced then it is BIG question on Sony engineering.Once you buy a Sony product, nobody is interested in looking at the interest of the customer.I must tell you that 6 years back I had also bought a TV of LG and you will be surprised to know that it still running without the need of any service.
I would request all customers who are evaluating buying a LED or LCD TV, should not even consider SONY leave aside buying. Please DO NOT make the mistake which I did. Moreover, look at the arrogance of SONY INDIA that their support engineer tells me that "No matter how much noise u make Sony sells by name".
