SonicWALL Bangalore Employee. Review on Sonicwall Inc

Review by Current Employee of SonicWALL, Bangalore.

Office location - Salarpuria SoftZone, Bellandur, Outer Ring Road, Near Indian Oil Petrol Bunk, Bellandur, Bangalore - 560103.

Company Strength - 200(Engineering{Dev+QA} 80, Tech Support  100, Others{HR, admin, IT} 20}

I am currently working in Engineering Department for past 2.5 years.

1) you will be able to complete the work easily.

2) Engineering Managers are very good and cool going. No problems in taking leaves or work from Home options. They Listen to your  interests. But its purely your luck if they help you out.

3)Managers in BLR office are completely controlled by US directors/respective reporting persons.

They don't have much technical knowledge. Very less budget is given to Bangalore operations. But, within the given budget, manager's try to share equally among employees.

4) Team strength and strategy - Usually team sizes vary from 2-10 at max. 1 Team Lead+1 Senior Engineer+couple of 2 yrs exp guys+2-3 interns may be more depending on team. If someone leaves, they don't bother to fill up the position but will try to get interns(free of cost for 1 to 2 years).

5) Company policies are not employee friendly. eg: No certification reimbursements, no education reimbursements, don't have budget to go for team outing, no investments in employee trainings, no concept of books reimbursement, no budget to buy technical tools/softwares, Pen/Pencil is also audited. Onsite opportunities won't be there.

Medical claims are the worst. HR says they are not responsible and they will tell you to talk to vendor directly.

If you forget to apply leave online and go on vacation, they will cut salary which is not refundable(This is like a marwadi shop) though you want to apply and get it approved from manager.

Others:

Air condition in office is very poor. Most of the time it is too cold. Employees fall sick frequently due to this.

But, Hats off to the Lab infrastructure. It's awesome.

6) Once you join Sonicwall, you should forget about hikes and bonus. There won't be any bonus in the company. If at all they mention any bonus, please don't believe. Average hike percentage is 5%

whether the employee is too bad or too good, difference would be only 5% hike. Usually hike ranges from 2%-10%

BTW, whatever sonicwall offers, they are the best in giving take home salary. They don't cut much for PF, gratuity, insurance,  etc.

7)Food(Breakfast+Lunch+Evening Snacks+Dinner) and Cab facilities(Home pickup and home drop) are Free. Food rating is 6/10. BTW, if you are non-veg lover, you can taste it daily. This is good in taste.

You can count this as 5K additional monthly  Salary.(Breakfast= 30 rs+ Lunch= 80 rs+ Snacks= 20 rs). Cab - Petrol= 100 rs(Monthly - 22*230= 5060 rs)

8)Product Road maps are not correctly planned. No one follows it. Sometimes, there is delay of 2-3 quarters. No body is accounted for this. If you are interested in working, you can work otherwise you can simply come and go. No body asks you.

9) SSL-VPN(Earlier it was Aventail), MySonicWALL, GMS, Emailsecurity are the prodcuts available in BLR office. Both DEV(Shared between US and BLR) and QA are available for all  above teams in same office.

10) HR department has no say in company.

11) If manager thinks your not having much work in team, they can fire you within a day, go and get a fresher or intern.

12) Engineering locations -  SanJose(Sonicwall products), Seattle(Aventail products), Shangai(Few good projects which are coming up with great features), Bangalore(Only maintenance projects which are not much focused.

Conclusion - This is a great place to work for a fresher, intern or anyone until he/she gets 3 years of industry experience. For Married women who are looking for a pure work-life balance, this is the best company. Later on, please go to a better work place. Otherwise, there won't be much to learn and the leisure culture will ruin your career financially and technically.
