Many people thought Sven Goran Ericsson was the wrong man for the job when he took over as england manager at the end of last year.
The former lazio manager in my eyes was the perfect man for the job(maybe bobby robson but hes happy at newcastle).
Here is my team that I think would do the country proud.

A great keeper, one of the best in the country.He has been in a battle with Paul Robinson for the first team for the first team place at leeds, but is in my view the best keeper in england.He is good in the air and is a keeper which the back 4 trust.He has proved he can do the job for england before and with David Seaman past it and David James prone to mistakes he is the number 1 choice.
Ashley Cole

A great left back who had an excellent debut against Albania in the World Cup Qualifier.He has excellent pace and can go past people with ease.His performances have shown that he is good enough to keep Chris Powell(Charlton)out of the team.At the age of 20 has the world at his feet and staring at a club like arsenal things can only get better.
Gary Neville
------------
A great player who as well as playing right back can tuck in and play as an extra man in the centre of defence.He has good attacking ability and has already proved he can defend.He is only 26 yet it seems like he has been around for ever.he has done everything at club level but he is hungry for international sucess.
Sol Campbell

Well what can you say about him, the best defender in the world.he has excellent pace and can keep even the best player quite.He is good in the air and has been a great player for england in the past.Without doubt he should be the england captain because he is one of those players like tony adams and stuart peace who physes the players up.
Johnation Woodgate
------------------
If he can put this whole asian incident behind him and get on with what he does best he will go on to be a regular for england.The rock at the heart of leeds defence and has been a defender who has helped them in the champions league to overcome the likes of lazio.
Steve Mcmanaman

Proved he is a great player by his form in the spanish league for real madrid.He hasnt got much speed but when he get hold of the ball he can work miracles, the ball seems to stick to his feet.He can go past player with ease and can make something out of nothing.He has been capped for england some 30 times but he is in the best form of his career.
David Beckham

An exceptional player who has the best free kick in the world.No matter where you put the ball he will test the keeper.Everyone will remember his first goal on his debut against wimbledon from the half way line.The man who had the second most asists in the priemier league, (Beaten only by Nolberto solano) is a player who has the magic to pick out any player on the park.He has been a good player for england for the long time he has been around even though he is still rather young.
Steven Gerard

A Great player who works his socks off.once he gets his injury problems out of the way he will go onto be 1 of the england greats.He has already delighted the liverpool crowds these past few season with his excellent passing,pace and shooting.He has everything a great player needs.He is only 20 years of age and has already won honours with liverpool.
Paul Scholes

The best all round player in the premiership with his excellent attributes.He has shown to the english crowd that even as a midfeilder he can still score plety of goals.He can hit a ball as sweet as a nut and has already won champions league(even though he missed the final thorough suspension),league and F.A Cup medals.Like many of the england players the only thing he needs in international sucsees which I belive he will get under sven goran ericsson.
Emile Heskey

He has excellent power and pace and can link up well with michael owen up front as he has showed many times this season.I cant belive he doesnt start in front of andy cole and is a player who is still only in his early 20s even though he has played football in the top flight for a long time.he has already won honours with leicster and liverpool in the league cup.
Michael Owen

He has already shown the world what he can do, even though he has hust hit form again for england.many people said he was past his best after world cup 98 but he has hit back after his rescent injury problems.He has great pace and can hit some wonderful goals
