Like most of these websites out there, one needs to be very attentive while buying from them, especially if you are paying before hand. Pricing, yes, it is at times comparatively cheaper then the proper stores out there. That's because, they don't have to pay rent at malls or at these posh commercial areas, putting up hoardings, staff to interact with so and so forth.
Snap deal has to improve on their customer support by leaps and bounds. For example, one has to wait for 10 to 20 minutes just to speak to a representative who is not authorized to fix or commit to any solution.
This kind of shopping is some what good for those who just stay at home waiting for their package all day at any given time to arrive, or ask their parents to do it.
I must honestly say, I still use these websites(not Snapdeal) from time to time because some products are just easier to find and buy.
One of my personal experience with Snapdeal.
I was ordering for a product(home improvement drill kit) and right after payment the order got cancelled. I waited for 10 minutes and nothing got deducted, since I needed the product in a hurry, I ordered it again and this time every thing went through smoothly.
To my surprise an hour later I got messages from my bank saying I was deducted twice for the same product, mind you, I only got one confirmation from snapdeal.
I called their customer support and after waiting for a long, long, long time(its not toll free) I got connected to a representative who said only one order is placed and that other deduction will be reverted within 6 working days. which should be their tag line.
A couple of days later, I received two drill kits a day apart, wondering what to do with two of them, the head ache started again, calling, waiting, explaining, forwarding, and some more waiting. And to top this conversation off, their tagline, it will be resolved in 6 working days, with no commitment.
After repeating the above cycle for 2 months or so they took one of the product back and refunded my money.
Hence, the moral of this experience is:
check and recheck every thing thoroughly and be prepared for a massive headache for you and who ever is receiving the parcel. Watch your self while dealing with these websites.
