Today among the top electronic commerce web sites selling electronic products. Snapdeal would come within the top five positions. But within those five, Snapdeal's prices are the lowest for most products. I found out this by randomly searching for prices of different products. In many cases, the price differences are indeed huge.


I was amazed by this lower price of Snapdeal and chosen Snapdeal as my first choice for buying products. But then it took some time for me to realize that it is actually the trap created by Snapdeal to catch innocent customers. They exploit the price sensitive mentality of people by showing lower prices. People immediately attracted by the low prices and inclined to place their orders without realizing that they are actually getting into a trap just like a rat entering into the trap that contains its favorite food.


But once caught inside, it understands that it got deceived. In the same way, it is only after one successfully pays the money and places the order, people start realizing the mistake they have made. But it is too late then. I have earlier written my review about the order I placed with Snapdeal, the wrong product I received and the unusual delay in the refund. After all my struggle, I managed to get my refund. But that refund success tempted me to order for a mobile and my bad luck have returned to me again.


How I was trapped


I ordered for a ZTE mobile phone on 1.1.2015 hoping to start my new year with a happy mood. I called the customer care on 2.2.15 to inform that I am keen about the immediate shipping of my product since my old mobile have broken so I was in urgent need of a mobile. I told that I might cancel the order if the shipping is delayed. I was surprised that within few hours of my call, the order status have changed to "product packed & waiting for shipping  within next 12 hours". I felt happy for this development.


But even after 24 hours the status remained unchanged. That is when I realized the seller's clever tactics. Once the status is changed to waiting for shipping, the cancel option gets disabled from our login. He intentionally disabled me from cancelling my order learning about my phone call. No shipping happened till 4.1.2015. I then lost my patience.


I called Snapdeal and informed them to cancel my order. They just casually replied that it is impossible to cancel the order as the product status is waiting for shipping, the only option suggested for me was to wait for the delivery and refuse taking the product from the courier. I was determined not to take the product. So I accepted their condition. Patiently waited for another one week and then rejected the product. Then it took  one more week for the product to go back to the seller. I found out through on line tracking that the product returned to seller on 15.1.205. But even now my order status is showing "product is shipped and it will be delivered to you on or before 19.1.2015".


Today(20.1.15)  when I called snapdeal CC, they simply say that their system still shows that the product is not received by the seller. When I insisted that I had verified the product receival through India post tracking, they then told that I have to wait until that information is updated in their system, but they were not sure how long it would take for that. Today night my credit card bill will be generated. I will have to pay the money for the cancelled product by first week of feb. I have already spent money to buy another phone at flipkart through my credit card. No I am concerned about how to arrange for this additional money if the refund does not happen before by bill payment date. I request all the readers of this review to pray your respective gods on behalf of me so that I would overcome this crisis.


Flipkart Vs Snapdeal


Why it is safer to buy from flipkart than from snapdeal?. Though  issues like delays, wrong products, damaged products are all possible  with both companies, with flipkart one can cancel an order at any time without any hurdle.


Even if the product is already shipped, or returned after a week, cancellation is easily approved. One does not have to wait for the dispatch and then reject the product, wait for parcel to return the seller, wait for an update on snapdeal system, initiation of refund to finally get back the refund( it minimum takes 15 days and maximum is unknown). With flipkart, refund is initiated immediately after the cancellation and the system is updated about the cancellation the next minute. Amazon also works in the same way.
