I ordered a 'i-ball mouse' on 11th August 2012. It showed delivery status as completed. But, I have not received the mouse as yet. It seems as if they don't care weather the product is delivered or not. Merely, dispatching it from there site means that the order have been completed. And on the top of that, the delivery time that was scheduled to be on 18th August was ridiculous.


As the product was dispatched from 'Gurgaon' which is merely 100Km away from 'Meerut' and still they need so much time for the delivery to take place. I am sure that they must have used the least urgent & cheapest courier service around to deliver the product. The courier 'First flight' showed 'Insufficient address' which is ridiculous as the 'Blue Dart' guys have delivered to the same address numerous times.


Neither the customer care from snap deal nor the courier guys called the mobile number that was provided for the purchase for any clarification on the matter. So, on 17th I called them after checking the status on the courier service and elaborated the address to Snapdeal representative. He said I should wait till 18th for the product to get it delivered. I told him that status was showing pending address and If they need any elaboration with landmarks then I am ready for that. I told him the details and asked him to update the same. He said that it would get delivered the next day.


On 18th I called Snapdeal again in the evening to know the status and to my surprise the 'Rep' told me that the address is insufficient. So, I again elaborated the address and asked to update those details with landmarks. And then the rep told me that the details have been updated please wait for the delivery.


On 21st I called them again and they told me that they are working on that. On 24th I called them again and to my surprise the Snapdeal Rep again told me that the address is insufficient. I told her that I have already elaborated the address 2 times before and still it haven't been dealt with. I asked her to look at the details and she said sure the details have been updated.


I asked her, so when can I expect the delivery. She said that I would need to talk to the courier guy for the delivery and that she would give me the number of UP courier services(something like that...). I was totally taken aback. I told her that I am not going to talk to any courier company/guy. I am talking to you and giving you all the details. You are an e-comm company and it's your responsibility to make the delivery. I am not going to approach any courier company for that. You have my mobile number. If you or the courier company have any doubt then they should clarify them on the mobile itself. She told me I have the option for not accepting the package.


It's hilarious, this company doesn't feel any responsibility towards customers. Just imagine, what would have happened if the product would have been defective. They won't have changed it. Thanks to it's pathetic customer service. I have not been able to use my desktop because the mouse had malfunctioned. So, I had waited for this mouse to arrive for so many days. And now, This company have such a irresponsible attitude. They might be having the cheapest products around but I would certainly restrain myself from buying products from them again. It's better to give some extra for good customer service. The status still is showing Insufficient address in First flight. And I am sure that these guys haven't even tried contacting them.


On the contrary, I ordered a pen-drive from 'Flipkart'. It costed 18Rs more than Snapdeal. But, when I ordered it got delivered in less than 3days and that too from 'Bangalore'. On the delivery day I got an sms and the courier guy called me to confirm the address. And just after 8 min of the call he was there at our doorsteps. The courier guy also told me, that if the product is broken or not working then I can call flipkart again and the same courier guy would come to my doorstep to send the product back to flipkart. It was amazing. The guy wore a 'Flipkart' t-shirt.


To all the people who want to do buy anything online at the cheapest rates. It's not bad giving some 20-50Rs extra for better customer service & delivery. It's like a warranty. everything would be fine if nothing goes wrong. But, once something goes wrong(And it will if you are a regular buyer) then you would really safe yourself a lot of headache and problems. So, people avoid Snapdeal at all costs. Because it a huge gamble.


I believe that 'Flipkart' is too big to be concerned with paid content writers trying to write contents in it's support and at the same time show other companies in bad light.


I mainly purchase from 'Myntra.com' & they are too good with customized offering. Unfortunately, they don't deal in computer related products. That's why I have made purchases from 'Infibeam', 'Flipkart', & the third one 'Snapdeal'. Out of the three 'Snapdeal' is the most unprofessional "lala type" company I have witnessed.


All of these portals have there own distinct advantages & disadvantages:


Myntra: Customization is there USP. It's one of the most intuitive & well designed e-com site out there. They have provisions to give & take information/feedback seamlessly from the customers at various places during & even after the product have been delivered.


Infibeam: It feels like a professional, no nonsense site. They are high handed when it comes to product reviews and don't let even marginal reviewers review there products. Customer service people are quite resourceful & knowledgeable. And can easily cross-sell & up-sell there products to the unsuspecting customers once you call them.


Flipkart: They seem to go one step ahead of a mere professional site. They are able to do things that would make people feel connected. They have good information about there products & have a good feedback system in place once the product have been delivered.


Now, I don't want to elaborate on all the positive & negatives of these sites as I am not reviewing them right now. I have mentioned them so that your doubts can be cleared weather I am a paid reviewer or not. But, I would like to mention here that, all sites have something different that is determined by either the culture or the person/team who is heading them.


And I doubt 'Snapdeal' guys would be answering to any of our concerns for 2 reasons:




  1. They know that they are at fault.




  2. They might not be visiting this site at all(Which is actually a wrong way to keep a watch on the competition for an e-com site). And anyways, they would be better off pretending that they are not visiting this site even if they might be.
