Here comes the best film from India but not by any Indian Director !! Anyways, this is a perfect example of how a good novel can be transformed into a great movie. Loosely based on the novel "Q and A" by Vikas Swarup the movie tells the story of 3 slum characters and how each of them cross each other time and again. It takes the interrogation of Jamal Malik (DEV PATEL), a call centre assistant who has done incredibly well in the TV Show “WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE?” in a police cell (Irrfan Khan, Saurabh Srivastava). Was he cheating or were the answers he gave connected to his past? At the end.. It was Destiny.

The movie is vibrantly filmed in the Maximum City Mumbai slums and around The Taj Mahal in Agra. Despite this it looks as if a fairytale is being told and if Jamal is the Indian Oliver Twist. At times the scenes in Mumbai Slums are also reminiscent to Meera Nair's classic "Salaam Bombay" in their feel. The narrative is fantastic and the way the "underdog" (if I may use the word) tells flashbacks of his childhood life to police ultimately revealing one question and it's answers at a time are the high points of the movie. If you ask me to take out a secne or two it would be unfair but still the scene when young Jamal gets the autograph of a Superstar and the one when Jamal and Salim reach Agra are one of the most interesting sequences along with many others (see I told you, can't pinpoint a scene or two in a movie like this). On the whole its a canvas painted with child exploitation, jealousy, hope and pure love.

Full marks to the director Danny Boyle adding one more feather to his cap.All the performances are impressive, Dev Patel carries the look of hope on his face with perfection and confidence, Anil Kapoor is convincing as the show host, Irrfan Khan is as always good and effortless, all the child artists have lived their characters with full sincerity. Rahman's score is nothing less than brilliant. At the end the movie is unarguably one of the best movies of the year and is a MUST WATCH !!
