Tips For Eczema Suffers -Winter

Wow!  Winter can be devastating for eczema sufferers!  The dry, cold conditions cause cracks, bleeding, itching and painful skin.  Here are a few tips that have helped me over 40 years of suffering with this condition.

First, don't be afraid to take a bath/shower.  This was propagated by dermatologists many moons ago but now they have discovered that bathing/showering is great for eczema.  It moistened the parched skin and allows the skin to suck up that moisture.  The trick: Use a mild cleanser in the bath - like Cetaphil Soap or Cleanser.  It treats the skin with care without irritation.been the dermatologist's darling for years!  It was created especially for them many years ago and still going strong.  The next trick: lightly pat the skin leaving some moisture on the skin.then WITHIN 3 MINUTES of stepping out of the shower/bath, get lubrication on the skin to seal in the moisture.  This is especially important when washing hands afflicted with eczema.  It will make a huge difference in the condition of your hands.

I keep a small bottle of Cetaphil Cleanser and Cetaphil Moisturizer in my purse as those antibacterial soaps in washrooms are killers on eczema!

Cetaphil Cream is also good in winter for more lubrication than lotion.

Also, use a humidifier in the house. It makes a world of difference for you and your house.

If your eczema gets really out of control, seek the help of a good dermatologist.  They can be very helpful in controlling a flareup.
