Rajani at his best and shankar at his worst. he surprisingly dint rely on his story and screenplay and had trusted on rajni, grandeur and color. As by now nearly 75% of the readers wld have watched the movie and had known the story I am going to just list out my observation comparing with other shankar movies.

Senti and touching scenes were missing. In his other movies like genteleman, indian, kadalan, genes(radhika), mudhalvan the fallover of hero was really touching. but in this movie when rajni lost all his wealth within 5-7 mins he is regaining his wealth and he is back to track. no parental sentiments.nothing is serious or logical in this movie. There are no strong villainism individually on suman, he is not shown as a baddie towards others.
Shreya has good features but she is not that captivating . she doesnt have the charm nor freshness as nayanthara or asin or trisha. in some scenes she looks jaded, weak, thin and bony. dont understand why people glorify her.infact suman was looking fairer than shreya and oru koodai sunlight rajni.vadivukarasi and mani were really wasted and they look too dumb. The scenes where they feed shreya and shreyas parents were totally tasteless. the car fight in the open air theatre and fight at musical shop were another waste . shankar was just proving that he can mindlessly waste money. no specific outcome of those fights.Though we can understand that we should not look deep into logic when watching rajni movie. it was really too much.
Rajini comes throughout the movie except for few frames.he does a good job. that too as MGR he is fantastic with drumming on his bald head and fast dialogue delivery. we are able to see the freshness in rajni in last 20 mins with that mindblowing matrix fight. thats the only saving grace.Sujathas dialogues, sumans villainism, viveks dialogue delivery, thota dharanis lavishly built sets, picturisation of oru koodai sunlight song, no intimate scenes of shreya and rajni.
Looks like shankar has lost his confidence in his story and strong presentation.
how rajni earned 200+ crores in 10 years, how come they are able to save shivaji inspite of tremendous electrocuting after a long time, why is suman frightened of income tax and enforcement people inspite of him having a complete control on government.
i think rajni used to watch more tv serials . he had pulled in solomon papaya, raja, eeshwara pandian, bose venkat and few others .
worth watching for its extravaganza and a fast second half.
