What would happen if an expert chef in Indian cuisine handles continental cuisine? What would happen if an auto rickshawallah drives a 407 truck? Well we all can imagine!! Such is the case of Singham. Its the same worn out storyline of a good cop versus corrupt system and his 'futile' efforts to change it. Rohit Shetty comes across as an inexperienced and immature director while handling this movie. He is better off creating Golmal sequels as he could not resist the temptation of bringing in silly comedy in the serious film thus disturbing the whole fabric of the movie. There is nothing new to offer. The stunts in the movie are same as the stunts in Golmaal. The biggest setback is that right from the beginning it doesn't set a mood for the audience. There is a huge inconsistency in setting the emotional tone of the movie which actually forces the audience to switch gears unnecessarily.
Thus leaving them wondering whats happening?? The dialogues are influenced by the native language and do add punches which makes the audience haul and laud in between. But that doesnt spice up the plot. The cops love story and love songs are completely irrelevant. Thank god the music is good. Overall the movie is a big disappointing but might be an entertainer for Devgan fans. The villain Prakash Raj has done a wonderful job in portraying Jaykanth Shikhare. Well its certainly a good entertainer but I am sure it would have been a very intense film of cut short and made to the point.
