Being the Gurupurab of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Jis 550th Birth Anniversary celebrations, after our visit to the beautiful Gurudwara Sahib at Kharghar, we decided to have our dinner at Singh Saab.
Well lit name attracts you to it from the main road, as it is on the first service lane so you need to manouvre to reach it, there is ample parking in front of the restaurant and around, mainly because next plots are still under construction.
Lovely facade and an antique heavy wooden door with a knocker to let you in. Large earthen pots on one side add to the welcome, also the full length glass windows do give a glimpse of the exquisite insides.
As you enter, you see traditional stuff on your right and welcome desk on the left where you are greeted and taken to your table.
Smart inverted colorful lamp shades don the central passage and the other section has many many many hanging lights to brighten the place, all done very tastefully.
The tables on the left as you enter are for 4 people and one side is a fixed bench for 2 and a ‘jhhoola’ on the other side for 2 people. there are about 5-6 such tables and we managed to take the only vacant one for the three of us.
Though they have been placed too close for comfort and privacy from the neighbor tables is compromised but the ambience of the restaurant managed to make us forget about eavesdropping or us being heard by others as we were there to just enjoy the evening.
We decided to order snacks and a dal makhni with our breads so we could taste various flavors and avoid the curries for this time.
It seems we made a good choice.
The daughter ordered a Veg Spring Roll, The Lady ordered for Aloo Rizala Kabab and yours truly asked for Murgh Sule Tikka.
We asked for Dal Makhni and Mux Veg Stuffed Paratha, Tandoori Roti and Garlic Naan.
All the food was asked to be served together and it came in fresh and piping hot.
Snacks had distinct tastes and accompanying Chutney and Pickle on the table was delicious.
Dal was wonderfully rich and breads were well done.
Spring rolls were a little greasy with the veggies done for stuffing freshly but the wrapper was nice and crisp and the szechwan relish was very nice.
Potatoes stuffed with paneer bhurji and cooked in tandoor wrapped in a masala was very tasty as well.
Chicken was super spicy stuff but very flavorful and delicious.
Breads were hot fresh and crisp.
We really enjoyed the meal.
Fresh lime soda was ordered and it took ages to come, served in a ‘banta’ bottle was interesting. It lacked the fizz though but made up with the souce blend added to the drink.
To finish the meal, we ordered Desi Gadbad, the costliest dessert, which was served making it an excellent round up for a wonderful dinner.
it came with a Sakura of Pistachhio Phirni, a large bowl of warmed gukab jamuns and heated motichoor laddoo layer topped with a lachedar rabri, a bowl full of Paans and generously decorated with fresh rose petals, it really looked specia and very celebratory.
