Tourists Paradise. Review on Singapore, General

Singapore is an ideal place for a short vacation for the entire family...It is amazing what this country has done to boost tourism inspite of not having any places of natural beauty or historical interest...We have a lot to learn from this small nation

The one thing which hit you as soon as you reach Singapore is effeciency and courtsy...Customs clearance is smooth with no asking you silly stuff like ''Where are you from''...''What have you come here for''(Come of it it is all given in my passport...or do you wanna hear an answer like-I am Carlos the international terrorist and I have come to plant bombs).Anyway the moment you walk out of the airport there are lines for taxis and you dont have to wait long.

The taxi drivers are polite and will charge whatever comes on the meter...They are so honest that you wonder if you are on this planet...I took a Taxi and the driver took a wrong turn and he had to drive one extra block...The meter showed 11 dollars...He said the bill is 9 dollars...I told him the meter shows 11...Guess what his reply was...It was my fault that I took a wrong turn so I should not be charging you for my mistake...He did not take the money even after my insisting

This honesty is there in everybody you come across...You forget your wallet somewhere and most likely you will get it back....Once in the bus I gave one dollar and the ticket was 80 cents...The driver was not having change...so I left the 20 cents...On my way back I got the same bus with the same driver...He recognised me and gave me back the 20 cents...You can move around in the night without any fear...Totally safe

The places to visit and must see are Jurong Bird Park,Sentosa,Raffles Hotel,Boat Quay,Clarke Quay

Jurong bird park is fabulous with variety of birds and the entire habitat is made to look like natural...like they have an amazon rainforest built complete with fog and rain drops and all birds from that part are kept there...You can get yourself photographed with macaws(They charge for it)

Raffles is the oldest hotel with old world charm...Go to their museum and also visit shops in the Raffles arcade...All leading brands are there...The hotel still maintains the old world beauty in an otherwise hi tech city

Go to the Zoo both in the night for the Night Safari and during the day...You can have breakfast or tea with Orangutans and get yourself clicked...The only problem is people back home may not be identify who is who in the snap

Boat Quay has got lovely pubs and eating joints...I recommend a Thai joint there...Lovely food...Cant remember the name...You should get a ride in cycle rickshaws fitted with stereos...

In food dont try a fruit they have-Durian....It smells like you know what...Maybe even worse...God knows why they eat this...Yuck

In Sentosa dont miss the underwater world and the Musical Fountains...

For shopping go to Tangs...good place....watch out for sales...you really get good bargains...There are many 1 dollar shops...Good fun to go thru what they sell

Use buses and underground for travel...Taxis are expensive......Bon Voyage
