There's a song that goes:

'Singapura...oh Singapura...

Sunny Island set in the sea..

Singapura...oh Singapura...

Pretty flowers bloom for you and me..'

Though small, Singapore is an amazing country! It used to be around 580 square kilometres in area but due to a lot of land reclamation it is now about 640 square kilometres. There is greenery everywhere and you can't even tell it's such a small country when you see the amount of nature preserved there!

There are five reservoirs to store rain water (yes, they are also tourist spots) and then there is the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.

Incidentally the Bukit Timah hill is the tallest point in Singapore.

Singapore (or Temasek, as it was formerly known) has four official languages--English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil!!

(As an aside, if you want to say 'Thankyou' in Chinese, it's 'Sesiye Nee', in Malay it's 'Therima kaseh' and in Tamil it's 'Nandri'...

And if you want to say 'I love Singapore' it is 'Woh Ai Shyinjapour' in Chinese, 'Saya Cinta Singapura' in Malay and 'Naan Singapur ai virumbugiraen' in Tamil)

There are many places to visit in Singapore.

:: There's of course the Jurong Bird Park which I must say is one of it's kind! It's a bird sanctuary and is awesome! Definitely include it on your itinerary!

::Then there's Sentosa. You'll need to spend at least a whole day to visit Sentosa, which is a small island off the Singapore mainland. There are water rides and a lot of water fun as well as roller coasters and amusement. There's something that everybody in the family can enjoy and is a MUST SEE for tourists.

::The Singapore Science Center is another place I'd recommend to tourists. They also show nice short science films in their 3D theatre. Another great experience.

:: Then there's the Mandai Zoo (called so coz it's located in Mandai). It's open 24 hours, so if you go in the morning, you can watch all the animals in their natural settings, watch the animal shows in the afternoon and then watch the nocturnal animals in a trek-like experience with their Night Safari.

No matter how many times you visit Singapore, you can keep visiting these spots coz they constantly keep updating and changing everything, so there's always something you've never seen before!

Singapore thrives on it's tourism and that sector is one of it's most revenue earning ones.

So please take a trip to Singapore!! Am sure you'll enjoy yourself tremendously!!

If there's anything else you want to know about Singapore, do drop me a mail and I'll be glad to write!! :-)
