I could not obtain my return ticket from Goa to Mumbai by IA so I opted to try Air Deccan. I visited their website ( https://airdeccan.net/airdeccan/home.asp ), selected the day, flight etc. When I reached the payment page where the credit card number was to be entered, I was shocked to discover that it was NOT a https// url meaning a non-secure server. Also the customery yellow lock icon that should have been there on the lower right side of the browser too was missing. (This was the situation as on date of this review ie. July 2004)
Hoping that they might have a COD facility, I called up the call center where a bigger shock awaited me - I could book via telephone but only if I pay via credit card. Caught between the devil and the deep blue see, I opted to proceed. They took down the details including the credit card number, expiry date as well as the 3-digit security number on the reverse.
Not sure whether I did a foolish thing or not, I am contemplating calling my credit card company and reporting my card as stollen a couple of days from today.
What is disturbing is the absolute callous, unsecure way they process the transactions. If this is how it starts, I wonder how good their aircraft maintenance is or what else do they compramise on? Oh, I almost forgot - The website sports a Verisign security logo. Some security that!
I can't comment on the actual flight etc. because at time of writing this review I hadn't yet travelled hell, I've not even picked up the ticket yet. Meanwhile I called up their call center again and logged a strong protest against this method of ticket booking.
New: The flight was uneventful, the plane was smallish and cramped. I honestly doubt I'd want to travel air deccan again.
