It is so nice to see so many reviews coming up in Mouth Shut regarding the service provided by the domestic airways nowadays.

It is obvious from most of the reviews that the reviewers were quite unhappy with the kind of service they got. It’s always good that such things are pointed out so that these airlines take some step and start improving their service. But what I feel is that these reviews must not be misunderstood by the people who have not tried an air travel. Deccan Airways are the ones who pioneered the low cost airlines and today in such a volatile market with petrol prices chaning every minute it really hard to sustain what these guys are doing..

These reviews unintentionally may be misleading sometime and people who have not tried this thing would feel that its not worth traveling by air.

Considering the time taken for me to travel from Delhi to Chennai in the fastest train (Nizamuddin Chennai Rajdhani Express) takes almost 30 Hrs (almost 1 and half day) and costs me around Rs.2500. This train is available on limited days of a week. Also adding 1 day time rest required after such an arduous journey. My travel to and fro comes up to 5 days. What do I actually spend is Rs.2500 + 5 days leave.

“Customer is to be treated as a King” This is what every one expects, Its always easy to point a finger at some one but lets try to see the picture from their eyes and things to be noted are

• These airline people are at present working with very low margins only with the intention of survival in the cut throat competition.

• Travel by air this cheap is really worth considering the fares of train.

• A lot of time is saved and its well known that time is money.

Air travel has just now begun to pick up popularity and would take a little time to settle. Other than the usual problems these airlines are facing shortage of Pilots, Shortage of staff, shortage of hangers (These are the news which we are coming to hear recently). I am not trying to pacify that what ever these people (Airlines) are doing is right. Its better that they address these problems after all it is their business.

The positives that I found in Deccan Airways are :-

• Their online booking system is so simple and you are always sure what you are getting and what not.

• Well mannered staff.
