Being a Chartered Accountant and coordinator in interview panel for recruitment in our company, I found that the resume of most of the profile who had pursued their distance MBA from Sikkim Manipal University is absolutely nil in the knowledge of their chosen field. I hardly found any practical concept approach in them. This can easily be evaluated from the profile of the candidate who applies for the job. Their academic and graduate marks are hardly crossing the 60%.
There is no valued selection process in their management course. Even I found one of the candidates who applied for Finance position job and could not even explain the Working Capital concept. This is just like you say that you have done Masters in English Literature and you don’t know the spelling of literature.
This kind of profile I have come across more than 20 times. So, I decided to take a deep look into their study module. One of the employees of our company was pursuing his distance management course from this University. The study module was simply like a school book with basic case application which hardly has any practical applicability in today’s globalised corporate world.
Moreover, I have many other links of professionals from various backgrounds like HR, Marketing, Operations, and Finance etc., who currently work in big companies. Their response is also the same.
Simple logic behind this issue is that, India is growing economically and the expectation of human resource talent by Corporate has jumped up like anything because of globalised market platform. In such a case, though the number of educational institutions has increased but at the compromise of quality. Clearly, as we can observe now a days that it has more become a money source rather than a education motive.
Even for the lower position level like officer, trainee, the profile of this institute does not suit. If your purpose is to just have a tag of easy going MBA, then there is no issue, go for it.
Last but not the least, even if someone wants to pursue their distance MBA, then they should opt for good institutes like Symbiosis, IIFT, IMT Ghaziabad, NMIMS etc.
On one side we pay them the fees and on the other side the output is not worth. There is no point unnecessarily putting such kind of qualification in resume with the quality compromise. Only experience in that case can make some way for you. Studying it as an entrepreneur also won’t provide beneficial strategic edge to your business running strategy.
