After an overlong wait, Sigma opened its doors some months ago. Was eagerly awaited by folks staying this side of town, mainly because of easier access to movies and inexpensive eating out [via the food court]. The opening went relatively unnoticed and the mall itself limped into existence with one flagship store and a few others that were mostly irrelevant to daily living.
The flagship Pantaloon Store is not under discussion here. Deserves a separate review. However, the mostly inedible food at the food court, the indifferent service at the eagerly awaited Moti Mahal Restaurant [get your act together guys. We walked out after waiting over 30 minutes for someone to take our order. To add insult to injury, they ran after us outside...not to apologize but to extract 20 bucks for the mineral water!] and [here's where my BP starts really rising...] the state of the restrooms - the ones everyone who eats at the food court is forced to use] all adds up a absymally disappointing experience.
Why do we still go there? Because a five minute commute down the road still beats battling traffic to get back into the CBD or further to see that movie you've been waiting for. The movie theaters themselves leave a lot to be desired. Everyone has to file out of one side door to exit, then go down through unkempt back- stairs and into the food court so you can part with a few more bucks before you take the main stairs and elevators down to finally get out. In one of the halls, you can actually hear the movie in the next theater while watching your own! Are they intending to give you two for the price of one?
All in all, much ado about not much.....
