I have cursed myself repeatedly for subscribing to Sify's broadband services.


I have a 40kbps, Unlimited download connection.


I have no connectivity for a minimum of 20 days in each month.


Customer Care is pathetic...... all empty promises, no delivery.


When they sign you on, they don't keep you fully informed that Sify only markets the service, the actual service is provided by a third-rate local cable operator! The cable operator and Sify keep blaming each other - while your connection is still on the blink!!!!! We subscribers have taken their crap for too long. Let me know if there's anyone who's had similar experiences...... we should get together and take them to task. One bit of advice - Don't ever even consider Sify, sticking with your old dial-up is better.


I'm pasting one of my letters to Sify customercare below. I got an automated response barely 2 seconds after I sent the email, promising me a call back in 24 hours. Fours days have passed and I have yet to hear from these frauds!


My letter:


Hello!


Wipe that smile off your face, I'm not writing in to compliment you!


I am a Sify Broadband subscriber from Juhu, Mumbai. My UserID is: blackberet


Your service is truly pathetic. In month, I am without connectivity for at least 20 days!!! You can call customer care a million times, nothing works! A bunch of clowns sitting in Chennai can't do crap about problems I face in Mumbai. Your Mumbai CTO (Spearhead Technologies) is totally ineffective, inattentive and couldn't care less. They blame you'll and you'll blame them!!!! Nothing is done to rectify the problem. You and your CTO are no better than than petty, street criminals. I have made many complaints. After 15 days, a Sify technician visited my place and tells me my LAN card is defective. He himself substituted it with a new, perfect LAN card and it still didn't work. I got my card checked out, it's in perfect shape, thank you! He then told me that the switch needed to be replaced and that Spearhead would do this. I have the job card he gave me showing that the issue was still pending. That was on 22/07/2005. I have not heard from Sify or the CTO since then. I took unpaid leave from office on many occasions just hoping that someone will come to attend to the problem. I didn't want my locked door to be another excuse for your third-rate team's inability to fix the issue. No one came! Even before this issue, I was without service for 11 days. They finally fixed it and it conked off again within 3 days.


I finally decided to pay the CTO a visit and give them a piece of my mind. Luckily for them, I met with a road accident on the way. I am now nursing a broken shoulder and collarbone at home - without the internet! All thanks to Sify!


Now this is where decency on my part has to end. You'll are a shameless bunch and I know my email will probably end up in your thrash folder. I am writing to tell you that if my issue is not fixed in the next 24 hours, I will drag you through the streets of Mumbai to the Consumer Court for absolute deficiency of service. Your track record is so great, that I won't have any trouble. There will be no dearth of people willing to testify against your lousy company. I shall also make every effort to bad-mouth your service and I will ensure that I get back in my own way..... and the ways are not in short supply. Please note: It is after months of frustration that I am finally lowering myself to your level and sending you this email. I am not usually this kind of person. But if this is the way you play your game, then let me assure you that you have met your match.


I now want to see this email go to the head of your Customer Care dept and I am expecting him/her to get in touch with me. Your response to this email will be the basis of my future course of action at the Consumer Court. I mean every word I've said here!!! The ball is now in your court for one last time my friends.


If you cannot provide the service you promise, GET OUT OF THE BUSINESS!
