Lot of reviews on Sify broadband were, ummm, to put it mildly, acerbic. When I shifted from the idiotic beam cable, it was with a lot of trepidition that I moved on to sify. The main criteria was the providers office was close by, and so I figured that I can go and have a physical fight if necessary in case of bad service! Well, I am glad to report that it hasnt come to that even after 3 months of continuous service.
Folks, I announce the good news - sify broadband is actually GOOD.
There are plans to suit every pocket and bugdet, right from 290 bucks a month - and if you use up your time, you can always pay and extend service. It works like a pre-paid telephone card. And incase you are away for a month, you need not renew it for that month.Most of other ISPs dont work this way.
It went this way:
I called up and a guy turned up in an hour - we bargained over the installation fee - In india, everything, right from dowry to mortuary bills can be bargained over. We decided on a figure, and he promised to get the connection done in 24hrs. I started calling after 20 hours. At the end of 24hrs, a coupla younsters turned, up, pulled a cable, struggled to get me online for an hour(my laptop's kinds old, so.).
Lo and behold, I have been online, without major interruptions till now.
I used up my time in the 2nd month, called them up and got it renewed immediately. A couple of times, power cables got cut - they acted really fast at those times.
Speeds are good. Noone delivers everything they promise in terms of speed, anyway.
So folks, if you live in Hubsiguda area, go for Sify broadband.
