The Siemens A 1016 machine, as long as it works, works exceedingly well. However washing machines, by definition, are prone to some kind of maintenance as it is handling a rotating chamber with water inside. In this count, Siemens should get a minus 6 rating. The service of Siemens is non-existent as
a) It is extremely difficult to find the telephone numbers of their service centres. The numbers listed on their websites are wrong. Their dealers have no clue about it. I finally could catch hold of a Siemens sales guy in Mumbai who directed me to a sales engineer in Delhi who, in turn, "somehow" managed to get me the service centre telephone numbers.
b) The service centre numbers are not picked up. The hit rate is about 1/25(i.e after 25 calls, someone might pickup; I am talking about 25 calls - each call lasting for around 20 rings)
c) Even when they pickup, the people who attend the calls are a lost lot. They do not know how to trace a call. I had called up to ask for the status but nobody seemed to know what is going on.
d) They have no sense of time / commitment. Despite committing that the machine will be up in 3 days, even after 10 days they will tell you that the machine may get ready in 2 weeks time.
e) The engineers who come to attend the machine are incompetent and do not carry the correct machines. They were trying to level the machine by checking it from visual inspection(no spirit lap etc)
On top of this, this machine is extra sensitive to alignment and the slightest shifting of the machine might damage the alignment and therefore the bearings.
Overall recommendation: Avoid it unless you have a second simple machine as a back up.
