Shwas was a wonderful, heartbreaking movie...

The story is about a small boy who is about to lose his sense of sight - either that, or he will die because his tumor will spread. Now the boy belongs to a poor family, and his grandfather comes to the city to get tests done. A social worker happens to see the grandfather's plight at one of the hospitals, and she ventures to help him. They try to get a second opinion. The doctor whom they went to first insists that if the boy is not operated upon at the earliest it maybe too late. So the boy is admitted to the hospital. Now the grandfather faces the heavy task of telling him that he will never be able to see again. Grandpa, social worker, and the doctor, all try to tell the boy, but he already knows it. What follows is a wonderful wonderful acting by the boy, who cannot come to terms with the thought of never seeing again! He throws tantrums and keeps crying. The operation gets delayed by one day because there is a more serious patient that needs the doctor. Now, grandpa and boy have to deal with another day, and its hard because they had already come to terms with the fact that today would be the day of operation. The boy gets so cranky that grandpa takes him out to have fun, on the last day of sight! Since grandpa sneaks away with the boy, nobody knows where he is and everybody is worried. Finally grandpa comes back and the boy gets operated that very night.

I have to say that I cried sooo much in this movie. I mean, I just felt as if I was there and could somehow feel the frustration of being in such a situation. It was such a wonderful movie, and just breaks your heart. It did leave me depressed and sad at the things that some people go through, and by the grace of some directors we get to glimpse into a few of these incidents. It makes you feel grateful for all the good things in life. Even my husband could not hold back his tears I hope he does not read this stuff.

A definite watch... I cannot understand how good movies like this can miss out on the Oscars. I do not trust the Oscars, since many times in the past undeserving people have won this award. I mean, how can they miss out on such a good movie!
