Lots and lots of rumor everywhere. Public opinion polls, nonstop telecast of email. A 5-page email is now 5000+ minutes of media coverage. Headlines of all the newspapers since last 4 days. Still everything is unchanged, uncertain, unexpected, unaltered…

Forget the email. That was the opinion of Chappell. I am just putting my views with some facts

  1. No century in one day since World Cup 2003. He made centuries their again Kenya and Scotland, which is not equivalent to 50 against any, test playing country.

  2. Last Man of the Match in ODI was in World Cup 2003 against Kenya.

  3. Last Man of the Match in Test match was in 2001 against Sri Lanka.

  4. He is among the worst when we talk about running between the wickets and fielding compare to any other Indian player

  5. He had done wonderful job as a captain and as a player both but everything decays with time. Take the example of Kapil Dev, Steven Waugh, Arvinda De Silva, Mark Taylor, Wasim Akram etc.. All these players were greatest and come in list of all time great players. Still they retired, they left cricket, and they step down from the peak. It is the case with Ganguly.

  6. He is not all fit to survive till World Cup 2007. More to it we don’t want last min change in captain that time. So new leader should be appointed who could carry till 2007

  7. Ganguly fears a lot from fast bowlers and new ball. History is against him when we count his performance in those matches where he has to face the bowlers with 145+ KMPH bowlers. His average and performance is extremely poor against those bowlers. Next World Cup is in West Indies, what you can expect from him.

  8. If you check Ganguly performance against countries.

Against...................Average

Australia...................23

Pakistan...................36

New Zealand............35

Sri Lanka..................39

England....................40

Whereas overall is 42+. It tells that his performance against Lee, McGrath, Shoaib, Sami, Vaas, Bond, Tuffy, Gough is poor.

  1. Short Woes. His performance against Short Pitched Ball is too poor. Among the Indian top-order batsmen, his stats are easily the worst.

Batsman...................Runs (Balls)................Dismissals...... Average

Rahul Dravid..................... 143 (100)..................4................35.75

Virender Sehwag.............. 219 (134)..................7................31.29

Mohammad Kaif.................. 60 (56)....................2................30.00

Yuvraj Singh....................... 79 (51)....................4................19.75

Sourav Ganguly.......... 143 (128)................12...............11.92

  1. Ganguly's overall runs per dismissal when playing the hook or pull is 25.33 (304 runs, 12 outs)

Runs (Balls).... Dismissals..............Average............Balls per dismissal

96 (44).....................9..........................10.67.......................
...4.89

Everything is wide open. Ganguly's age of learning and improvment is over. He is in a kind of shell from where coming out is very though. Hope he can comeout from ther and do better.
