Lets make it simple and short.

I posted 3 orders for books, cd's and vcd's. I thought that rediff would be pretty reliable considering that its registered on the NASDAQ (REDF) in the US. Well, I was wrong. This company sucks. Its been a month and my stuff has not been delivered. All my gift certificates worth some 1000+ Rs are wasted and money has been charged to my credit card. Repeated emails to customer service (to some computer generated Dummy representative called Neha is of no avail). They simply wont respond. Their online help or chat is a farce and their program for gift certificates is a big scam. Everything that you order using these certificates is out of stock but if you just pay them outright the order goes through. They call them # 1 in e-tailing. Probably theres a long way for them to go before they can even think of being there.

The goods are not delivered on time and they make their own decisions on the goods (I once ordered a single piece 1kg cake, and they instead sent two 1/2 kg cakes). This was not what I had asked for and sounds silly.

May be I'll try out https://fabmart.com or some other website. But following is the text of my email correspondences with them. You can figure out how frustrating it is to deal with rediff shopping.

Dear Rediff Representative,

Please cancel these following orders 1359892, 1357641 & 1346243 and refund me my money. It has been almost a month now since I placed these orders. I have also send you atleast 3 emails. I have not heard from rediff. I am now going ahead and blocking all the payments through my credit card. I am sorry to say that rediff.com is all hype with a pathetic customer service.

All of my orders except one which all had some or other type of gift certificate are either out of stock or have not been delivered. This whole business of handing out gift certificates seems like a scam to me.

If rediff needs to have a competitive edge over other e-tailers, it needs to get its customer service straight, especially to the US customers who form a major bulk of rediff's business and who have no other means of communicating other than through emails. Also the live chat link to the wesite is a big farce.

Sorry to say that rediff has lost a customer and I am going to pass the word around to my other friends to use alternate means to send their gifts to India.

Hope you improve.

Thanks

Dear Rediff Representative,

On the 17th of December I had registered 2 orders (Order No: 1346246 and Order No: 1346243), both of which were approved. My two gift certificates, each worth Rs. 250 (total Rs. 500) were redeemed and the balance was transferred to my credit card. A confirmation email was sent to me. A few days later, I received another email saying that my order has been reversed and the product is not available with the vendors. However my credit card has been charged and so are my gift certificates.

This is the second email that I am sending to you and asking you to refund me the amount that is charged on my credit card. Also I want to get my Rs. 250 gift certificate back. If I dont hear from you soon, I am going to call up my credit card company in the US and dispute the order. It would then be the responsibility of rediff and citibank to sort out the problem.

I hope to hear from you soon so that the problem can be sorted out at the earliest.

Thank you,

Regards
