I have read many a reviews on the services of Rediff and I am surprised to know that many a people have given the site the best marks.I beg to differ and the reason lies in the fact that I have access to the Net over the past 2 years and frequently check on many a sites frequently in a day.
The rediff.com site looks a little cluttered but still takes very little time to load. The problems encountered by me is not at this stage but when I go deeper into the hyperlinks, the page does not load. Infact what usually happens is that a blank page appears and the sign in Internet Explorer says '' Done''. Thus speed is not the issue, but the issue is that of loading of the page. I have experienced this many a times on my computer and also in many of my friends computers.
The second issue is that of content. The content of the site is mainly news clippings in nature. The other links are rarely updated and many a times '' File not found'' is what appears on the screen.
Inspite of the above 2 problems, I would still visit the site for the following reasons:
Speed of News Delivery - Even when the details are still unknown, the site atleast has the article, without the hyperlinks and the average time to the delivery of the hyperlinks is 40 mins to 1 hour
Slide Shows: This innovative way of news delivery. combining pictures and news clippings has been very succesful. The next stage that they need to acheive is to put animated clippings (a.k.a usatoday.com)
Search: The daily search results, though not very comprehensive gives the user an idication as where to start
News: If you are looking for Sports, National Politics and Cinema news, please do tune in here. The other subjects like International Politics and regional news are not present in detail in this site
