After reading so many bad reviews about shopclues.com, I was really skeptical about buying anything from the site. However, I needed a pair of cheap earphones for my phone so decided to check them out.


They had listed a really nice looking earphone with mic on their site. The price was also very reasonable. I decided to give it a try and ordered one. The worst thing about the whole transaction was that they didn't have Cash-On-Delivery facility, so I had to pay upfront.


Within a day of ordering the product, shopclues sent me a Blue Dart tracking number. I kept checking the status on blue dart website and it moved painfully slow. For almost a week, it was roaming around somewhere in Hisar(Haryana). After that, it took them just one day to bring it to Delhi and then Bangalore. Something didn't look right.


Anyway, the delivery guy simply handed over the item to security and went off. I wasn't even aware that my parcel is lying with the security. A chance status tracking on blue dart website showed the name of security guard as recipient of the parcel.


After obtaining the parcel, I opened it. The earphone was really nicely packed and I couldn't guess that it would turn out to be a totally defective piece. It was broken inside and unusable. I immediately raised a complaint with Shopclues(they have a strange system where you can't send them email, you have to log into their website and order return or replacement).


I opted for replacement and didn't hear anything from the website for 2-3 days. After that, they sent me a mail saying the seller is unable to replace the product. Then they sent another mail saying they will refund the money and I am free to dispose-off the defective product.


Even after this mail, it took them around a week's time to refund the money. I feel lucky to have got my money back.


I feel that people must stay away from such websites. I later read on many news websites that shopclues has been sued by people for supplying fake and defective items. They are returning the money(at least I got my money back) but they are spoiling the trust people place in online shopping portals. We order items and pay money because we want a good usable product. If this continues then people will stop buying from such websites.


I believe Shopclues doesn't have any clue about the background of sellers(unlike Flipkart and Amazon who do a thorough background check on sellers and have a high satisfaction rate). I had purchased several items online(mainly from Amazon and Flipkart) but this is the first time my experience was so bad.
