SHIMLA its in himachal pradesh. its an amazing place....it owes its character almost wholly to the British. The large open space in the heart of town presents excellent view of the mountain ranges. Shimla's landmarks-the Neo-Gothic structure of Christ Church and the new-Tudor library building are worth seeing. I had been to shimla few months back and these are the few places I visited.....

THINGS TO SEE AND DO

THE MALL: Main shopping centre of shimla with restaurants. the Gaiety Theatre, which is a reproduction of an old British theatre is a center of cultural activities. A passenger lift of HPTDC can be taken from the Cart Road and the Mall. Lakkar Bazaar adjacent to the Ridge is popular for its wood crafts and souvenirs. One has to visit the mall

its has places just like bombay... there is a barista dominos pizza as welll

JAKHOO TEMPLE (2.5 Km approx) : Shimla's highest peak offers a panoramic view of the town. An ancient ''Lord Hanuman'' temple. Way from Ridge near Church (on foot) One can also hire pony or taxi to visit the temple.

KALI BARI TEMPLE: Few yards from scandal Point towards General Post Office.

THE RIDGE: The large open space in the heart of town presents excellent view of the mountain ranges.

TATTAPANI : Motorable on Shimla-Mandi Highway via Naldehra. Tattapani has hot water springs having sulpher contents, also Hindu temples which worth seeing places...its reallly great.i had visited this place one can actually smelll the sulphur...

NALDEHRA : Motorable On Shimla Tattapani road. this is a nine hole golf course. It was designed by the British viceroy, Lord Curzon who was so enchanted by this place that he gave his daughter Alexandra, Naldehra as her second name. Ancient Nag temple is also situated here. Himachal Tourism runs Hotel Golf Glade here

WILDFLOWER HALL : This building at Charabra, about 13 km from Shimla, The place was run as a hotel by the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation before it was severely damaged in a fire in 1993. The hotel is under renovation and is expected to reopen soon.

KUFRI : Kufri lies 16 kilometres to the east of Shimla at an altitude of 2,510 metres above sea level. The surrounding countryside here offers you a good opportunity for hiking especially to the nearby Mahasu peak. The town also hosts a winter sports festival.

these are some few places which I had visited apart from these there are many more to see....but these are a must to see...

WHERE TO STAY - there are many many hotels in shimla...of different budget....In order to make tour to Shimla even more joyful you need to choose just the right kind of accommodation for you and your family or friends in Shimla

i was staying in a hotel named Hotel Clarkes

All the rooms at the Hotel Clarkes of Shimla are spacious and tastefully furnished. its very close to the mall. there is Hotel Himland East it is Shimla's Drive-in-Hotel. Established in year 1969, just 1 km from the Shopping Mall & Lift, away from the hustle &bustle of the crowded city yet its within city. With all modern amenities and facilities of three star hotel. It has its own Parking space - rare for the town, for safety & security of your vehicle.

WHEN TO GO - All year round though Shimla is bone chilling cold in winter. Best season is summer but personal fav is spring or autumn when it is less crowded

SHOPPING - shimla is the main shopping centre for Himachal crafts... I can shop for shawls and caps wide range and beautiful kashmiri salwaar suits. walking sticks... dry fruits.... like walnuts....Dont forget to bargain

the distance from delhi to shimla by road is 8hrs and its a very hectic journeyby road

one shuld make sure that u carry lot of warm clothes...

and for further more information one can contact the himachal tourism information centres at shimla....
