I am very sorry to say that I did not liked a well-known hill station of India i.e. Shimla. However, You can enjoy a lot at the nearby places like kufri, chail, naldhehra, tattapani, mashobra and many more. Moreover, there are beautifull hotels and cottages in forests also. So try to avoid hotels at Mall road of shimla and instead of this try to stay at the hotel or resort in outskirts of city. One such hotel / resort is Sylvan heights which is in outskirts of kufri. I really enjoyed my stay at kufri. You can enjoy the pleasant long strolls alongwith never ending pine trees and apple orchads.

Moreover, the scenic beauty of these places is just terrific. One just forget the day to day tension here and enjoys the closeness with nature. The hill people are really very helpful and charming.

You can purchase high quality fruits (fresh as well as dried)at reasonable prices. Some woollen garments can also be purchased from here. Ss, go towards shimla and explore the nearby areas to see the nature in it's fullest boom. Shimla is however like any other small city of India crowded, congested and loads of noise pollution.
