Shimla, the capital city of Himachal Pradesh, connected with Rail, Air, and Road. nearest railway station is Kalka and from Kalka, you can hire a cab or bus or experience the journey of the great Himalayan railway from Kalka to Shimla. Shimla has its own Airport named Jubbarhatti, near about 20 Km from Shimla. And by road, it will take two hours from Kalka to Shimla or Ambala to Shimla. The road's condition is very good and wide enough, by road the journey is comfortable and relaxing. By train, you will experience the heritage with thrill and beauty of the mountains. I personally prefer the train because of its amazing journey through mountains, tunnels and between the pine, oak trees.
Shimla is a very popular Hill station, mainly developed by the British Ruler. I have visited Shimla two times and get surprised all the time because it will change its beauty in every season. The city itself is stunningly beautiful. Shimla has plenty of places to visit and explore. But as per my opinion, I will suggest you the best places to visit.
Shimla Mall: One of the best Mall of India is Shimla Mall. The heritage of itself is amazing. The main shopping destination of Shimla is the Mall. You can get almost all branded things in this Mall. the mall is crowded with restaurant, food corners, Banks, Movie theater etc. The heritage of the Mall is another attractive thing in Shimla Mall.
Shimla Kali Bari: Shimla Kali Bari, a 172year old Shayamali Maa Kali temple, by which Shimla name was derived. It attracts thousand of people from all over India. It is situated just near Shimla Mall.
Jaku Temple: An ancient temple dedicated to Sri Hanuman is very famous for its devotional value. From Jaku Temple tourist enjoy the view of Shivalik Mountain.
Fagu: It is famous for its stunning view of snow peaked mountains. In winter it is popular for its adventure sports activities.
Kufri: Located just 20 Km from Shimla is famous for its zoological garden and natural beauty.

Though Shimla is the capital of the state, it has plenty of hotels. From Home stay to Deluxe Hotels, From Resort to Villa, it has every mode of accommodation you want. The hotels near Mall and Mall Road are expensive. I suggest staying at a little distance from Mall Road. During the season the rate is quite high. Hotels are very good, clean and have all the facilities you want, as per your budget. The staffs of the hotels are very well behaved and helpful.
Himachal Pradesh is one of the safest states in India. Local people are very helpful and good human being but stay away from another unknown tourist. I personally experience the behavior of local people. They are 100% helpful and harmless. You just need to respect them and they respect you back.
