Story:

Though the title of the book, "She Swiped Right Into My Heart" indicates a cliched romance novel but indeed it manages to reflect on a bunch of social issues faced by people in the growing years of their life.

It is the story of three girls Geet, Tushita, Shibani and two boys Vivaan, Rudra and how their life and relationship dynamics change due to certain events. Though I agree that initially the author fails to impress me in the first 50 pages of the book but soon we are introduced to more matured themes in the form of bullying by classmates and the norms of social acceptance. Here, Geet plays the protagonist's role in the story as most of the relevant themes and revelations revolve around her character.

Then there is the hush-hush theme of identifying with the sexual orientation and the events that lead to the acceptance of such a "taboo" thing together with its impacts on the near and dear ones. The author manages to capture and portray a lot of relevant social themes and events in this novel through its characters. Coming to the drawbacks of the book, apart from Geet, the other characters in the story could have been woven with more finesse to lend more impact to the book and the issues it tries to deal with.

Though the book tries to touch on a lot of sensitive and relevant topics of our society but it does so in a easy narrative tone instead of trying to be revolutionary which I feel makes it a reader-friendly book. Overall, I would rate the book 3.5 out of 5 stars and urge you bibliophiles out there to read it once.
