The Shantikunj of Hardiwar is one of the headquarters or hub of Spiritual and social organizations namely All World Gayatari Pariwar(AWGP), the place was establised in 1970 at Haridwar and it took a lots of year and finnally got emerged as a center of the Global Movement of Yug Nirman Yojana (Movement for the Reconstruction of the Era) for moral-spiritual regeneration in the light of hoary Indian heritage. The place is situated at the Holy River Ganga and between the Shivalik Ranges of Himalyas, it plays a important role as a sight of attraction for those who are devoted towards spiritual guidance. Shantikunj is basically located about 6 KM's away from Haridwar Railway Station heading towards Rishikeh(or Dehradun) on NH-58 in India. The nearest Airport is Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun.
Shantikunj was established in 1971 by Pt. Shriram Sharma Acharya, he established it on a small piece of land which later-on got spread to a very vast area over a period of time. It was when spread on a larger level got named as Gayatari Nagar where soon after, many higher level spiritual practices camps were organized which were held under the guidance of Pt. Shriram Sharma Acharya. In 1979 a satellite campus was added at a distance of about half kilometers towards south named as Brahmavarchas Shodh Sansthan which was a Research Institute.
Shantikunj is a place fully devoted to Indian Cultural Aspects, the basics of the Shantikunj is the Gayatri Mantra, it is said it is the Gayatri mantra from which the Vedas are said to be originated is the foundation of this Divine Culture . The Vedas represent the religious tradition and their extension Upanishads represent the philosophy upon which that tradition is based. Indian Culture essentially preaches: peaceful coexistence, potential divinity of an individual, freedom of thought, Cosmic Unity, non-violence in word, deed, and thought, reverence for all forms of life, and the law of karma: As you sow so shall you reap and rebirth. The Hinduism is said to be the only religion other than any other which does not have any founder or any specific date of founding. It is based on number of sages, Saints and Seers.

The place shantikunj haaridwar is a bit farther from the main city of Haridwar, it's about 7 Km's away from the Haridwar's Railway Station.
The means of transport to reach the city and to get-in are very easily available at very affordable rates such Taxi's, buses, Auto-Rikshaw's etc, which at a very cheaper rate can pick you from the Haridwar's Railway Station to the Shantikunj and Vice-Versa.
The city of Haridwar is very well connected with all the major cities of Haridwar including its Judiciary Capital Nainital which about 225 KM’s away from the city of Haridwar, although all major transport facilities like buses, trains, Taxi’s etc are very easily available for the travelers and also buses by State Transport Department has been provided to the people under regulation of State Government, in order to provide comfortable and convenient journey to the passengers, some luxury buses also run in this route which are not only regulated by State Transport Department but also many Private Travel agencies run their own buses to connect the distance between these two cities.
The other Capital of Uttarakhand is said to be Dehradun which is about 53 Km’s away from the city of Haridwar.
Staying in this Holy city of Haridwar is very easy and now Railway’s have provided their own retiring room for their passengers at a very cheap rate which are very easily available for passengers, other means of staying are the lodges, Guest house, rest rooms etc, which are also very easily and conveniently made available for the travelers.
