The Shanti Sagar on CMH road is responsible for my 3+ years of survival as a bachelor in bangalore. It is one of the very few places where you get very good, pure veg food. Whatever happens to the world, however seasons change, the consistency of taste and quality doesn't change in this hotel. Since it happen to be of good quality, I ended up eating in the place one time too many.
The best item I have eaten here is the mughlai Briyani. It melts in your mouth and has a Rich taste. I love it. If you don't mind sweet food, the kashmiri naan is something you shoudn't miss.
The naan here gets real rubbery if you are a slow eater. Watch out. For rotis they use 100% wheat and it is really tasty. I also like their paneer butter masala (my staple food here). The fulkas are also very good.
There are a couple of things you have to watch out for. The manchurian items are good, but beware of the amount of oil ! Also, they put a lot of sugar in any fresh fruit juice you order. The ice cream served here is of average quality only. You are better off visiting the baskin & robins just away on the opposite left side.
Visit this place before 7.45pm. DO NOT visit on a sunday. You will have to wait for 10-30 mins. atleast.
The service here has considerably improved over the past 5 years I have been eating here. Now the waiters are quite responsive and make less mistakes. Competetion, I guess... I hope they improve their serving time as well. Just like the food the service time has stayed the same over time - a standard 15-20 minutes.
This is one restaurant you can really depend on for good food. Now they have expanded the place with a second floor as well (mostly for parties).
