I had tried to eat at Shalimar during the Ramzan times, but could not do that as the restaurant was overflowing and people were waiting everywhere. On 5th April, I went to a meuseum near Byculla and thought this might be a good chance to taste and test this place.
I went to the upstairs AC area, and surprised to find that it was 90% full. The waiter could show me a table. That table was meant for 2 persons, but way too small for more than 2 dishes. I ordered shami kabab with rumali roti, and mughlai chicken with tandoori roti.
The shami kabab was just awesomeeeeeeeeeeee. I had never had such great shami kabab apart from the Vazir Building, Shalimar Corner, Bhendi Bazaar, Sandhurst Road, Mumbai. It blended well with the rumali roti.
Mughlai chicken had so much oil that I could cook my entire month?s food with that oil. The taste was good, but they would really be helpful if they can do away with all those extra oils. It was a huge turn-off for me to see that above the gravy, there is a 3-4 mm layer of oil floating.
