Shah Rukh Khan -- the synonym for magic in Bollywood... The King, the Baadshah, the lovable, the perfect Mr. Khan...

Can't help taking a small trip down memory lane before I begin this actual journey. I never had much of an interaction with Hindi Cinema as a kid. I had grown up more with cartoons, sports, good music and English classics... Probably Mohabbatein was my first conscious effort to see an SRK movie... And bingo (SRK's rendition of Raj Aryan Malhotra had fetched him the Filmfare Critics' for Best Actor)! I still can't forget that confrontation scene between Big B and SRK... I had literally been left breathless... The intensity of that one scene had done wonders with me and here I am today, all set to pen down a few lines about this wonderful man...

The actor (rather the Super Star), the person, the father... He keeps surprising me everyday. Sometimes, it feels it must be a dream sequence. Can one man curve things out to so much perfection all alone?? He is witty, he's smart and he has a big bad part of this world going gaga over him!! I can't believe he is human...

But then again, people say he thinks too much of himself. Agreed... My viewpoint though is a bit different. He's a Super Star and he knows how to take it and enjoy it. He speaks too much about himself because he ends up saying the right words. Humility is an overrated virtue and it doesn't hurt to see a man of his stature making the point clear that he is aware of himself. To me he epitomizes professionalism. Be it the media, be it his directors, be it his co-actors; he knows how to live with the rest of the world. There are several odd facets to this charming personality which makes him all the more colorful -- (Quote)The King Khan not only gave gifts to the cast but also various members of the crew after the filming of Don was over. And along with the gifts they also received personal notes of appreciation by SRK himself. This Bollywood Baadshah definitely knows how to dazzle and charm those whom he appreciate..(Unquote) The ease with which he handles just everything -- be it the Interviewer who had asked him about his opinion on his improving relationship with Salman Khan; to which he had replied "Ya, we are planning to have a baby together!!", or his honest confession on Sanju's Munna Bhai (Raju Hirani had at first offered Munna Bhai to SRK, but the latter couldn't take up the movie as he was undergoing treatment for his back problem then) -- "Sanju is the real Munna Bhai. I genuinely think that Sanju is outstanding. There's this amazing and enduring big brotherly love in Sanju's Munnabhai, which I don't think I would have been able to bring to the table”, leaves me just spellbound... This man enjoys a tremendous position and he masters his territory -- after all, he is the self-made man...

The father SRK is another wonder: A Best Friend to his kids, he is a part and parcel of their lives despite his busy schedule. He teaches them Hindi, plays Video Games with son Aryan (and in fact is waiting with bated breath for the Play Station 3!!), drops them off to school and even puts them to sleep... His children know he is a Super Star, yet they can expect the same old things kids have expected from their Dads for ages. He balances things very well, and balances them with loads of love and care...

As an actor and as a Star, he has always tried to give off his best. Be it the Raj/Rahul or be it the Raju, be it the Mohan Bhargava or be it the Dev Saran, be it his Kishen or be it his Don, be it his Asoka or be it his Devdas; he has put in his utmost energy and effort to bring to life a perfectly crafted character with his own share of emotions and feelings... But yes, he has gotten a bit stereotyped, thanks to the too much expectations of him as a Star. It feels good to see him in different roles nowadays – the Dev Saran might not have worked wonders with the audience but he succeeded in undoing what he had done to perfection for so many years. The Main Hoon Naa Maj. Ram Prasad Sharma or the K3G Rahul Raichand had him playing the best son/brother but Dev Saran was the embittered husband; arrogance and irritation gushing out of his every walk, his every talk. He gave the character the perfect touch of imperfection which almost had me hate him and pity him for what and how he was!! It was hard to like the character because it was even harder to relate to it – you don’t happen to meet or dream of a Dev Saran everyday… It will be highly unfair of me if I don’t mention his take on Don here. With the huge figure of AmitJi looming large on him, he carried off this role with amazing dexterity. Giving it his own touch, he did justice to Farhan’s decision to cast him and at the same time made it a perfect example of an inspiration. Moreover, he won over huge accolades from all his fans round the world and proved yet again that no matter what, he is not called the King Khan for no reason!! His forthcoming movies also seem to be promising a hell load of extraordinary stuff from this great hero... Hope his "Om" in Om Shanti Om or his Hockey Coach avatar in "Chuk De India" leave us with a lot of food for thought. Hope to bask again in the essence of his acting (like in the characterizations of Devdas/Sunil/Mohan)...

He has something very very special about him. It's good to know that he has become the face of India for a large part of this entertainment industry... Wanna wish him in his own style... Insha Allah, may God bless him...
