Shahrukh khan is the most saleable star of bollywood today. When a movie comes out, it's a guarantee that the theatres will be housefull. He only works with top banners, mostly known to work with karan johar for most films. He born into a muslim family of pathan origin in delhi. He has a masters degree in mass communications, from jamia milia islamia, delhi. He has a wife named gauri khan she is a punjabi from delhi, he has a son named aryan and a daughter named suhana khan.
Shahrukh also known as srk these days he was first appearing in t.v. serial called fauji he played the role of abhimanyu in 1988. He also had a minor role in circus in 1989. He made his debut in the movie deewana which was directed by raj kanwar, the movie did pretty well, but he still not established as a fine actor. in 1993 he got in the limelight, with two negative roles darr directed by yash chopra and baazigar directed by abbas mustan. Both movies did wonders for srk, IN baazigar he got an best actor award, this is one thing I don't understand, he was a villain for baazigar, and people like amrish puri, amjad khan, prem chopra who has given great villains role never got best actor awards as they got villain awards, so what is the case with srk getting a best actor award for a villanous role. He performed well in baazigar, he was one of my favorite back then, after sanjay dutt. IN darr he plays a obbsessive lover, the role earlier desgined for aamir khan, but srk took full advantage of the role and his evil laugh, was something new to the industry and rose to fame.
IN 1994 he took two more movies, in which both did average business at the box office, kaabhi haan kaabhi naa, in which I think he did the best acting from all of his movies, he got a critics best acting award, in which I thought he deserved. In anjaam he got a villain award in that he deserved also, but it was a same story as the movie darr.
in 1995 was the worst year for shahrukh khan, sure dilwale dulhania le jayenge was released that year and did wonders for the actori in my opinon anybody could have played the lead in dilwale dulhania le jayenge it was story that was good actors like rahul roy could have done the lead role and movie would have gone suppersuccess anyways and movie had one of the best soundtracks ever , he also worked in karan arjun which was hit, but he was overshadowed by salman khan, BUt think of how many flop movies shahrukh khan had in 1995 let's see:
Guddu, a director called prem lalwani, stars srk, manisha koirala, the movie was the worst of 1995.
RAM JAANE- In his movie, he overacted throughout the whole movie, with such cheap dialogues as aae apun tere thobre ko technicolor kar dalega, aae mirchi sala tere ko mirchi lagi kya, sounds like he was inspired by amitabh agneepath, and tried to change his voice, agneepath remains a classic.
Trimurti, directed by subhash ghai, flopped so bad it had a huge starcast jackie shroff, anil kapoor and srk and lot of heroines. He played a younger brother of the two.
Oh darling yeh hai india- now what was he thinking, when he signed for this movie, has anybody even seen this movie, the movie was directed by ketan mehta, who also directed the new aamir khan movie mangal pandey, even that flopped.
Zamana deewana- directed by the director of SHOLAY, seeta aur geeta, shaan and shakti, even this one flopped.
!996 remain the worst for him, such movies like army, chaahat, english babu desi mem and dushman duniya ka all flopped, even directors like mahesh bhatt couldnot help him.
!997 was a gold year for him, when he threee love stories in his hands, dil tu pagal hai, pardes and yes boss, while dil tu pagal and pardes went on to do superhits, ess boss remained a avergae movie, the movie did a pretty cause of the songs off abhijeet who always created magic for srk. Dil tu pagal hai which had good songs, it worked due to the songs, and movies like SATYA never get anyawards at the filmfare awards, I can see ram gopal varma pissed, and actors like manoj bajpai stay unrecognized, with the performance of his lifetime. Pardes again had good music and the movie was trying to tell message to people about their homeland.
in 1998, he only had one hit movie again, Kuch kuch hota which was directed karan johar and again a love story all of his other movies flopped Duplicate, which was earlier a sanjay dutt movie, but due to his jail problems dutt was thrown out, and duplicate flopped it had a different story, again shahrukh couldnot do anything for mahesh bhatt just like chahat flopped duplicate flopped as well, then he tried his hands on dilse, with director mani ratnam, who is a big director that movie bombed also, shahrukh dimple face couldnot save the movie.
In 1999 he gave himself a little break and did the movie badhshah again that movie flopped, it was a different kind of a role, not a love story, but a james bond style of a role. in 2000 shahrukh and juhi chawla produced Phir bhi dil hai hindustani, which , also flopped it wasn't a love story, Hey ram which was kamal hassan movie, man I can't believe they had the guts copy the old movie, MERE APNE from the 70's and make JOSH, which was the exact same story, shahrukh khan overacted so much with his tapori style, tried to play ashwaryia twin brother, again they gave him such cheap dialogues like agar idhar se nahin gaya na apun tere thobre ka geogrpahy begar dalega, In my opinon the show was stolen By sharad kapoor who is a great actor with a powerfull voice. Mohabbatein, which was a another love story was a hit directed by aditya chopra, the movie again had good songs.
2001, he starred in one 2 ka 4, which flopped badly, asoka which starred him and kareena kapoor for the first time also flopped, Then here comes kaabhi khushi kaabhi ghum, by karan johar, then he has a hit. In 2002, he stars in HUm tumhare hai sanam, which flopped badly, Shakti he played a tapori kind of a role, he overacted so much tapori is not his stuff, They signed him for devdas, in which I thought MADHURI DIXIT stole the show. The movie was made on a big budget had the most expensive sets clothes, even the american's watched and were fasicnated by indian clothes and expensive sets showed in the movie. In 2003 he starred in two more love stories Chalte chalte, which abhijeet again excelled in singing for himand one of the worst movies ever kal ho na ho, which was a total copy of rajesh khanna film, anand I thought they made fun of the movie anand, by making this. Anand remains a classic and rajesh khanna's best movie.
