Director - Sukumar Nair Screenplay - Jagmohan Singh & Iqbal Dhillon First of the four relases film on the life of Bhagat Singh. Simple Film takes a look at the life of India's most honoured firebrand revolutionary Bhagat Singh (Sonu Sood). Not much emphasis is paid on his childhood except that after the Jalianwla bag Massacre of 1917 which left a huge impact on the young Bhagat Singh. He studies in Lahore's National College which was co-founded by Lala Lajpatrai. After initial difference of opinion with Lajpat Rai over the issue of non-violence he joins him against the Simon Commission. Afer Lajpat Rai Succumbs to injury caused by Inspector Saunders, Bhagat Singh along with Rajguru (Dev Gill) plan masterminded by Chandrasekhar Azad (Raj Zutshi) to shoot saunders. They also plan to bomb the Central Assembly without causing harm to anyone to protest against the Trade Dispute Act. Soon they voluntarily arrest themselves and are sentenced to death for shooting Saunders. Very simple movie with no historincs. The only good performance is by Sony Sood who is outstanding as the youind revoultinary. The final 20 minutes are very touching. Please do not miss that.

Psst - 1) 4 movies on the Life of bhagat singh are toi be released in the year 2002. This was the first one. Previously 3 movies were made on bhagat singh. Shaheed made by Kewal Kashyap and Manoj Kumar was a huge hit and the other 2 were flops. The first movie made starred Shammi Kapoor in the lead role. 2) Director Sukumar nair didnt wannt toi include the cult song ''Mera rang De Basanti Chola'' because he felt bhagat singh would have never written that soing as his favourite colours were red and black. 3) There was a little uproar by some congres supporters as they felt the movie took an anti-gandhi and pro-communist stand. 4) Co script writer jagmohan singh is bhagat singh's elder sister's son. 5) Entire film is shot in the state of Punjab. 6) Research for the movie started as early as 2000. Shooting time was 60 days. 7) Except for his mother, The entore Bhagat Singh's family was from Arya Samaj. Although he always was a self proclaimed atheist and had also written the famous essay ''Why Am I an atheist'' 8) Contarary to the fact, bhagat Singh was once upoon a time a supporter of Gandhi. 9) Though he never claimed but bhagat singh later took on communist ideologies. Even a day before his execution he was reading a book by Lenin.

Quotes 1) ''Tum log to england chale hi jaaoge lekin yaha sub sudharne main naa jaaney kitney saal lag jaayege.'' 2) ''Inqalab Zindabad'' 3) ''Simon commission go back.'' 4) ''You are a pimp'' 5) ''Dekhe kitna dum bazoo e qatil main hai'' 6) ''Log mujse dus kadam door rehke baat nnahi karte. Aur aap ne mere gandhe haatho se khana khaya aur mere ko maa ka samaan diya. Aap devta hai.''

Oops 1) It is highly unlikely that bhagat singh would have worn a wrist watch as wrist watch was not at all popular amongst indians at that time. 2) Some of the coat designs of the british officers are very much modern. They are not at all of that era. 3) The outer side of the train compartment is also that of modern coaches.
