SHAKTI ZULM KI. Review on Shaakti

SHAKTI - THE POWER

Shakti is the about Nandini (Karishma Kapoor) residing at Canada alongwith her resides her Late father's friends (Jaspal Bhatti & Tiku Talsania). Nandini gets married to Shekar (Sanjay Kapoor) who is a manager in one of their hotels. Few years pass by now Shekar and Nandini have a cute boy Rajeshwar fondly called Raja.

Once when Nandini and Shekar are driving out Shekar happens to see a news report in BBC which gives information about ongoing riots in Bihar. Hearing this Sanjay gets worried and he tries to contact someone on phone. After all these years of marriage it is now Nandini comes to know that Shekar's father and mother are alive and are living in Bihar.

Shekar decides to go and meet his parents. Nandini also insists on joining him. Presto from magnificient Canada they come and land in the Heaven of India ''Bihar''. The moment they land at Bihar Shekar is rounded off by few gun weilding men. Fortunately for Shekar he is saved by his uncle.

Shekar and Nandini comes home they come across Narasimha alais Dadu (Nana Patekar) Shekar's father and mother (Deepti Naval). Shekar tells Nandini that he had left his home and reached Canada as he was totally against the blood shed done by his father and step-uncles.

Dadu is very happy to see his grandson Raja. However Nandini is afraid of Narasimha as he teaches Raja how to hold grenade and throw them. She keeps on telling Shekar that they should go back to Canada.

Shekar on the compulsion of his mother agrees to stay back for few days and celebrate his birthday. Once he decides to go and meet the commissioner on behalf of his father and on the way he is shot and killed by a goon (Prakash Raj) hired by his step-uncle.

On seeing his body Nandini decides to take her son and walk off but once again because of her mother-in-law's compulsion she decides to stay back till Shekar's rites are completed. Finally after the rites when Nandini decides to leave Narasimha asks her to go minus her son. Nandini is not willing to get separated from her son.

From here begins the torture and pain Nandini had to undergo before she is allowed by Narasimha to go out of the country with her son.

To come to the rescue of Nandini is Shahrukh Khan who is shown as a village ruffian who dreams to make it big by going to Dubai. He does nothing but dreams about Aishwarya Rai and himself dancing.

How did Nandini manage to escape from Bihar, how did she manage to win the hear of Narasimha, how did she escape from the clutches of her husbands step-uncle, the answers to all the questions can be seen in Shakti.

It is not only Nandini but also the viewers who have to undergo the torture and pain before we are let out of the theatre.

It's the maiden venture of Sridevi as a Producer. The story of this movie is nothing new but directly lifted from a South Movie (I do not remember the name of the south movie). Direction of Krishna Vamsi is nothing great.

Cinematography by S Sriram is great he has done a great job by capturing deserts in a fantastic way.

Choreography of the trio Saroj Khan, Ganesh Acharya and Shankar is good in few numbers.

There was great expectation in the music of Ismail Darbar but nothing great about the music of Ismail Darbar, infact the music for best song Ishq Kamina picturised on Shahrukh and Aishwarya has been scored by Anu Mallik.

Performance wise in Shakti - The Power, Sanjay Kapoor has given a fantastic performance and shown his power. Karishma has once again proved that if she gets good role she can perform extremely well. Shahrukh, in a small role has done his best. Aishwarya and Prabhu Deva are in it only for one song each. Though the name of Deepti Naval was shown in the title the old actress Deepti Naval could not be seen in the movie.

However the best Power of Shakti - The Power is none other than Narasimha Alais Dadu Alais Nana Patekar. There is no doubt he is best in his dialogue delivery but even in scenes where he do not have much of dialogue he has done a fantastic role.

In a nut shell it would be advisable to carry a heavy power tablet for headache while you go to watch Shakti - The Power, as after listening to the explosion and firing sound you will require a SHAKTISHALI SARIDON.
