The film tells the story of Ashish Khanna (Akshaye Khanna) and Rani (Ayesha Takia) who fall in love with each other. Ashish's childhood friend, Rohit (Aftab Shivdasani) also likes Rani but Ashish manages to woo and charm her.

After opposition from her family, the two get engaged to each other. He's a hypochondriac and keeps popping pills to cure all his imaginary ailments. One day, he even overhears his doctor (Boman Irani) discussing one of his patient's illnesses.

Ashish misunderstands it to be his case and is shattered to hear that he has cancer. He thinks it's unfair on his part to marry Rani knowing fully well that he's to die soonlong with his friend-cum-colleague (Rajpal Yadav), they work out a plan to make Rani detest him and call off the engagement.

Finally he begins to flirt with the sexy international model Sania (Mallika Sherawat).A heartbroken Rani dumps him.

Surprisingly Sania falls in love with Ashish for his innocence and introduces Ashish to her brother, Anna (Suniel Shetty), as her prospective husband.Ashish is worried, more so because Anna is an underworld Don. He has to carry on pretending to be Sania's boyfriend if he doesn't want to be shot by Anna...

To an extent, director Satish succeeds in his mission of making you laugh, even if logic takes a backseat and the wafer-thin storyline is stretched beyond a point in the second half .Despite a half-baked script, the film holds your attentiont in first half. But the film suffers in the post-interval portions, since it gives an impression that the writers were, perhaps, trying to package just about everything to woo the viewer. The outcome is tedious and not as exciting as the first half.

Directorially, Satish shows a flair for light entertainers, but he's handicapped to an extent by the screenplay. Music is of a hit quality. The songs are tuneful and the best part is, they come at the right places, complimenting the goings-on.

Special mention must be made of the witty one-liners penned by Rumi. This is amongst his best works to date. Those delivered by Rajpal are sure to bring the house down. And now to the performances!

Shaadi Se Pehle undoubtedly belongs to Rajpal Yadav, who is unbeatable when it comes to comedy. He contributes enormously to some of the best moments of the film.

Akshay Khanna is proficient, enacting his role with ease. Sunil Shetty is not as convincing, mainly because the screenplay doesn't offer him enough scope. Aftab Shivdasani is alright.

Leading ladies ayesha and Mallika– add glamour to the proceedings.

SSP has an excellent first half, but a just-about-okay second half. skip or watch it!
