The Power of Positive Thinking is a world famous book by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale. Shadi say pahle try to say the power of negative thinking.

Let me come straight to the point.

Shadi Se Pahle.... is a light comedy. The film start well off, where I was thinking the Priyadarsan Genre is picking up and others are improving. With the nice dialogues from Sanjay Chel, the film start well in to the mood. However, when we expect the story to picks the momentum, it start dragging a bit. But occasional interventions of witty dialogues improve the situation.

Since the story of the film is already circulating for quite some time, I find it is ok to discuss it little here. Akshay and Ayesha Takia is in love. Being a poor man, Akshay cannot get Ayesha's hand, unless he earn 50 lakhs. Somehow he find 20 lakhs and the deal is agreed. Akshay, who is over sensitive, misheard the doctor's words and he believe that he got cancer and will die in 1 year. He want to break from Ayesha to save her. He is trying different ways, all ways fail. Finally Mallika Sharavat appears and Akshay pretend she is in love with her to free Ayesha. The story rolls from there on.

Performance wise, Akshay Khanna is as usual in good spirit. Nice to see him again in screen.

Ayesha is nice and sweet cuty.

Mallika is also in her usual style. Her swim suit scenes add masala to the film.

Rajpal Yadav is fine.

Aftab is ok, however, he do not have much to do in the film.

Sunil Shetty is well and fine. You cannot ask for better.

Anupam Kher is ok.

In brief, casting is ok and actors perform well.

Music is a big let down. Except one song, the film do not been supported by good music.

Back ground music do not support the scenes. If you watch Malaamaal Weekly and Shadi Se Pahle, you will notice this difference. Where, in Malamaal weekly the back ground music add colour to the comedy.

Sets and Photography are good with pleasant colours and light.

Satish Kaushik who is known for his family drama with comic scenes do a good job here. However, he is still to improve the skill of creating an out and out comedy film.

The story is a thin one and to keep the audience interest it has to be well described and correctly plotted. The writer could have added few more twists to the movies or even a new dimension. There is a movie in Malayalam, called Anavaal Mothiram, where the hero's blood change with one of the villain and the hero is been informed that he will die in an year or so. The story of the movie is an example of how this could have been improved. For Shadi Se Pahle, the script is a big let down.

When I said the script is a let down, the DIALOGUES are the highlight of the movie and the movie most likely be carried by the dialogues. Bravo Sanjay. Poetic discription with ample comic thoughts is in full flow. Some comedy even didn't get time to reach to the brain of the audience and then start another dialogue. A kind of Tongue Twister type dialogues are to be mentioned separately.

There are certain scenes in the film, which will carry in itself which one will remember for quite some time.

  1. Rajpay Yadav trying to Hug Mallika for the second time.

  2. Akshay Khanna's planning of his own burial and the 'thulabhara' with Sandalwood.

  3. Mallika catch Akshay's bum for the second time.

  4. Suni Shetty's dialogue of Lollypop

  5. Fire works with Guns for the wedding preparation of Akshay Khanna and Mallika.

Akshay Aftab pairing will keep your memory back to Hungama days and I have to warn you that the pair is not that affective like Hangama, since they have not given an equal roles.

In brief, the film is a light entertainer which can offer some laughs through out. The film do not carry any emotional drama which you need to think about and worry about. It also need to be mention that the film drags a little after the story is all set. By seeing the title, you may think that this film deals with some sort of Shadi Se Pahle problems, but actually it do not.

In business point of view, the film will be an average to average plus. Considering that last few weeks do not have any major releases and comedy genre is in the flow, the pre-release advertisement may save the movie.

So, if you want to have some time pass with light entertainment, go for the movie. But don't expect a genre of a Priyadarsan flick.
