Cast-Salman Khan ,Shilpa Shetty

Director-K.S Adhiyaman

Dubai Release Date-2nd August ,2006

I am very disappointed with this film. Besides playing every Bollywood cliché to the hilt, this film was nothing more than a rehash of 2003 hit Chalte Chalte.

The ultimate problem in this caper lies in its originality. Added with excessive doses of melodrama stereotypical characters and clichéd relationships, SKPGY is a strong mishmash of everything you have probably seen before.

Opposites attract, right? That's what happens when Ayaan (Salman Khan), and Ahana (Shilpa Shetty) bump into each other .They are as diverse as chalk and cheese. Ayaan is an impulsive, middle class, hard-working, emotional guy, while Ahana is prim and proper, highly sophisticated and brought up in the lap of luxury.

They throw caution to the winds and dare to fall in love. But, gradually, things start changing. Romance takes a backseat, the need to exists. What next?

Although Shaadi Karke Phas Gaya Yaar has an interesting storyline, it suffers on account of a hackneyed screenplay. In fact, a similar story was witnessed in Chalte Chalte. A story like this may've worked a few years ago, but it holds minimal appeal in the current scenario.K.S Adhiyaman is unable to infuse his film with energy. His last film Hum Tumhare Hain Hain Sanam – was indeed bearable, but he seems to have gone haywire this time.

Also it doesn’t help that the editing reduces the film’s speed to a snail’s pace. The film starts off pretty well, but runs out of steam in the second half. .That's mainly because Saajid-waajid’s recycled songs turn up every few minutes without reason.Cinematography is functional. Dialogues are just about okay.

But it would be wrong to blame the director completely, for the time the film took to make is evident throughout the narrative. That is one valid rationale why the drama does not electrify at all, for it bears a stale look at places. The entire film has a lackadaisical and stagnant feel to it.

Salman Khan is less than credible , but handles the dramatic scenes toward the second half of the film with sincerity. This performance will neither help nor hinder his career. Shilpa Shetty is patchy; sometimes good and sometimes awful.

With no hype or hoopla surrounding the film, Shaadi Karke Phas Gaya Yaar will face an uphill task at the box-office.
