Shaadi Karke Phas Gaya has nothing new to offer. It's the usual run-of-the-mill story, has the usual sprinkling of drama, comedy, romance and, not to forget,a melodramatic climax.There's a hero, a heroine with the Bharatiya culture plastered all over it.
Actually, the movie isn’t all that bad but considering the more than ample time given to the director, he should have come up with something more realistic and gripping. Even though its release was delayed by almost a year, Shaadi Karke Phas Gaya definitely has its warm moments.
Ayaan (Salman) comes from a joint family with traditional values like sanskar, respect for the elders, etc. One day, he meets a rich model Ahana (Shilpa) in a shop. Emotions are stirred in the very first meeting, but Ahana is not an easy catch.
Coincidence brings the two together again on a number of occasions. Ayaan makes his moves, but Ahana doesn’t yield easily. Then, Ayaan comes to know about her likes and dislikes through her diary and makes all the right moves to woo her. Eventually, he wins her love.
The two get married. All is well in the paradise until the honeymoon gets over. As soon as Ayaan and Ahana return from their honeymoon, differences start appearing. They begin to argue over small matters. Ahana finds it difficult to fit into Ayaan’s family.
What makes Shaadi Karke Phas Gaya likeable despite its shortcomings is that it has a 'heart' -- the prime ingredient for any love story.There were good moments and bad. The scenes between Shilpa and Salman are really good, and it is these that save the film from going downhill in a rush.Also riveting is the highly emotional scene where Salman tells Shilpa that he is not the only one to be blamed for their failed marriage .
K.S Adhiyaman, who directed HTHS is passable as a director, considering he already had good actors who can carry their own weight.The film is a little different in the sense that there are no external factors causing the rift, only a matter of personal choice.
Shaadi Kar Ke Phas Gaya yaar belongs to Shilpa Shetty, who delivers an incredible, flawless performance. The actress looks every bit the character she portrays and proves that she is a powerhouse of talent. There's no denying that her performance uplifts the goings-on to a huge extent.Playing a suave and decorous man with a mellow heart, Salman deftly conveys the intensity of the inner contradictions of his character at several places in the movie.
Two songs are really good, the title song and Kuch Bhi. The sets are bright and colourful, a trademark of art director Nitin Desai.
On the flip side, the film does look dated in parts.The climax would have been better if wasn't so melodramatic
Shaadi Karke ke Phas Gaya is a good enough film if you go for that kind of family tear-jerker. And then there's Shilpa to see, in an excellent role with negative shades to it. Beyond that, there's little to this Bubby Kent film.
