THE BAND PLAYS ON A DIFFERENT PLANE

Originality:

This is one of my all time favorites albums To me it is much more of the enigmatic Lennon lyrics and LSD.

Actually to me its a whole trip: Set it up, have it, enjoy, come back to reality and flashbacks, The Album is set up beautifully, each track following the other has just the right feel and thus gels superbly into

PICTURE YOURSELF & when the going gets good IT GETS BETTER ALL THE TIME, IF PARANOIA STRICKES, you can always GET BY WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS, which helps you in FIXING THE HOLE, that you've dug yourself into. When SHE LEAVES HOME you go back to Flying as high for THE BENEFIT OF MR KITE. Your mind roams about sometimes it is WITHIN & WITHOUT YOU, Alone you feel as if you're SIXTY-FOUR, then Lovely RITA comes your way & then dawns a new morning and you can't help wish everyone a GOOD MORNING

Finally SGNT. Peppers Band takes a bow to bid you adieu...

The Cover design follows with that of ABBEY ROAD & as the wise proclaim that there are wheels within wheels, this album too has a lot of them turning away each linking to the other

  • This was their second studio album after ABBEY ROAD, which - with the most enigmatic cover and continues the development of the mystique of the BAND.

On the cover of ABBEY ROAD

MC Cartney walking bare feet (signifying that he's dead), Lennon in whites (Priest), Ringo in Black (MOURNER) and GEORGE HARRISION in JEANS (UNDERTAKER/GRAVEDIGGER),

A car with the number 28 IF (i.e. Paul Mc Cartney's age if he would have been alive)

And speculation was rife that MC Cartney was dead as the band was now only recording STUDIO ALBUMS. And then this cover,

If you notice there is a grave in which Paul Mc Cartney is dressed in a tux, and the group as such look like a funeral band, hardly British army and Sarge Pepper I think is a reference to HASHISH (which is mixed with pepper in INDIA to make you hungry specially in the mountains).

OVERALL IMPRESSION

The first side is about the trip and the second about revival and rejuvenation realizing life IS MORE PRECIOUS then wasting it on drugs forever they do open another dimension to your outlook but it can be clouded over, from misuse and one can become dependant on it.

In their own way they were telling the world very subtlety, been there, done that and have a T-SHIRT to prove it its all right for a while but shouldn’t become a vocation in life...

I think I just rambled on a bit too much.

The Ultimate tribute to this album according to me was just 2 days after its release (so anticipated) JIMI HENDRIX played the Tile Song in what turned out to be one of his last stage performances at the ROYAL ALBERT HALL? So awesome was the immediate respect it got from fans and fellow musicians alike...

The GOOD FOURSOME SHOWED THAT THEY TOO HAD A WILDER SIDE.

These two covers add to their enigma and legend.
