Serena Williams just lost in the French Open semi-finals to Justin Henin Hardenne. Henin Hardenne won the match almost fair and square, but not being a good sport is also part of the game. Serena returned the display of poor sportswomenship by not extending her hand gracefully after the loss. Serena's mother says that some of the French fans were ignorant. She must not forget some of her husbands antics. Serena is a great tennis player, and on Thursday she learned a good lesson. The world owes you nothing. People root for the underdog, and like a bit of humility. Serena has been blessed with a great deal of talent, but to believe that not being liked is exceptable is erroneous. We all want to be loved, and by those who pay to see us perform we want to be loved more, and that is why she cried. She didn't play her best, or maybe she did, but there is always another day. Her game hasn't changed and her opponents have learned to exploit her weakness. She needs to hire a coach, improve her ability to get to net and be decisive, and just play tennis without the added attractions. One more thing, a bra strap belongs on the inside of the apparel. She has changed the sport, but she should understand that when you attempt to change time tested beliefs that work, you only hurt yourself. You don't have to look like everyone else, you can stand out in a crowd, but you must always be elegant. When the crowd claps for the opponent, thank them gracefully, as if the applause was for you. They will be surprised, and you will be the winner. Take heart Serena, Wimbledon is on the horizon. Have Slazenger make an outfit appropriate for a champion, not a Madonna wannabe.
