Scribendi.com is mistreating editors and every editor out there has to know this before making a decision to work for them. First, there seems to be a large gap between the top management and the juniors. The juniors are only regarded as servants who should be pushed around, threatened, underpaid, and fined for no apparent reason. I worked for this company as an in-house editor and it really pained me seeing what remote editors could go through. If the senior editors do not like you just from the word go, they will do everything within their capability to ensure that the implicate you with something for you to leave, mostly quality issues.
Their quality system is so biased in that it does not take into consideration whether a paper was meant for proofreading or editing, whether it was a complex ESL paper that may need to be edited up to five times to eliminate all grammar errors because of Scribendi and I'm preparing to file a suit; I'll be coming back to give you an update how this goes. Overall, there are more reputable sites to work for and I'll be more than happy to give a full list to those interested.
