Saw II was the much anticipated sequel to last year's sleeper hit, Saw that I discussed in my previous review. The film opens with one of Jigsaw’s victim, in this case a police informant, in the same sort of quandary as the victims in the original ''Saw''. Saw I had some really good spins and an inventive concept, but SAW II is leagues above it. Saw II runs with the same game based theme as the first, with clues for both the characters and the audience about what might happen next, but it takes the game to a completely different level.

This time around, Jigsaw has assembled a gang of social misfits and criminals in a decrepit old house that is leaking poisonous gas and is littered with deadly booby-traps and of course, video cameras so he can see everything that is happening to his victims. As in Saw, the hostages are left a series of tapes that give them clues as to how they are supposed to figure out how to get out of the house or get the antidote for the poison. Unfortunately, for this to happen, and as Jigsaw so proudly points out, ''There will be more blood'', which infact is the tagline of the movie.

On the other side we have, Donnie Wahlberg as Police Detective Eric Mathews, an officer with serious issues. He’s suffering from burn-out at his job, his personal life’s a mess, and he just had to bail his teenage son out of jail. To top it off,Jigsaw left a message taunting him at the site of his latest murder. Here starts the searc for Jigsaw. Finally they are able to capture Jigsaw, but than Jigsaw had some other plans in his mind. He kidnaps son of Mathhews and puts him in a room along with 7 other people with a video feed set up for the police to watch as mentioned above in first paragraph. The people here have a common relation that is one of the mysteries. Now Matthews has to play a game with Jigsaw to get his son free. What follows next is a series of bloodshed, unique twisted plots and one helluva climax. Some people would not get the ending in 1st view as it runs very fast, I had to watch the ending a second time to get the real essence. Also there are numerous forums online discussing about the movie where you will find out some very intricate details that you might have missed out. Saying more here too would ruin the experience of watching the movie.

SAW II too was made in just 25 days flat and had a really great opening in the US.S AW II is gruesome, it keeps you guessing, it has some interesting twists and turns and it has a relly inventive story. The acting here is OK sorts and does not matter in movies with such a unique storyline. And the story just does not end here...it is about to be continued as SAW III to be released in November next year. Just waiting for it.
